Last few years I've been lamenting the lack of cheap handheld for younger gamers, Switch 2 costs so much in comparison.
At least people can go back and get legacy hardware. My cheap handheld gaming has been on Evercade these days, Really fun.

being cheaper than building a PC isn't the point consoles are supposed to be the affordable option for gaming and we are watching in real time people being priced out of the hobby what's going to happen is most will keep the hardware they have and not upgrade so get ready for cross gen to last a very long time

I think if we keep chasing nostalgia we'll never find the spark that led to eras/aesthetics like this in the first place. Creatives need to be experimenting again.

Fewer and fewer ways to earn a living and under no circumstances a safety net. (We're optimising that out too) either because it costs too much or it's seen as "communism".
To them the entire human workforce are Lamplighters at the dawn of the light bulb.

Because we now live in a market being actively engineered so that the money is in reducing jobs.
That same market cannot possibly allow you not to work. It cannot replace money.
So where does that leave real people?
