The idea that for so much of his life, the only human emotions Zenos knew were loneliness, resentment, and anger towards the man and institution who created and subsequently abandoned him makes me so, so sad he should have been a happy child playing with toys and eating cake

The only real display of emotion outside of the WoL we see from Zenos is when he kills his father and I think it’s the only time we see him express genuine anger. The theory that he also destroyed the Imperial flag behind the throne really adds to the idea he was resentful

Thinking about baby Zenos, whose sole reason for existing was to further his father’s ambitions at the cost of his mother’s life and when it was clear that whatever was done to him prevented that, the person responsible - his own blood - abandoned him and called him a monster

I still lean more towards Carosa being a direct callback to Lucrecia and simply dying after Zenos was born, but I do think it’s 100% possible that Zenos could have been a botched clone and not have been truly born at all BUT I GUESS WE’LL NEVER KNOW, HUH

4.5 also not only establishes the Solus clones, but outright says that Varis dabbled in Allagan cloning techniques and was involved in their creation. I think Varis may have been the one to create/modify Zenos with unforeseen consequences that led to him being a deadbeat dad
