Israeli lawmakers opened bottles of champagne last night (Monday, March 30), to celebrate the introduction of the death penalty for Palestinians into Israeli law. Since October 2023, Israel has killed at least 72,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and at least 1,050 in the West Bank. During this time, more than 80 Palestinian have died in Israeli prisons, which have become a network of torture camps where inmates are subjected to continuous abuse and violence. The Death Penalty Law is another tool Israel is using to kill Palestinians.

Our feed was full of Purim celebrators enjoying the holiday in Bnei Brak and Jerusalem with police standing by. Just meters away, the Temple Mount was closed to Muslim worshippers during Ramadan prayers. Meanwhile, new iron gates are popping up like mushrooms after the rain at the entrances to villages and cities across the West Bank. Someone said apartheid? (Photo: Purim of 2016 in Hebron, same same but worse)

Under the cover of war, the cooperation between the military and Israeli settler militias is deepening the ethnic cleansing of the West Bank. This is what has been happening on the ground since the start of the Israeli-American offensive in Iran: Roadblocks and movement restrictions As soon as the IsraeliAmerican offensive against Iran began, Israel imposed sweeping movement restrictions on Palestinians in the West Bank. Most towns and villages were fully or partially sealed off to both inbound and outbound traffic, and travel between different parts of the West Bank has also been blocked. Attacks by Israeli settler militias Taking advantage of the war, armed settler militias, often operating with support from the army, continue to attack and harass Palestinian communities across the West Bank in an effort to force them out. The attacks include: Raids on Palestinian shepherding communities and villages, home searches, livestock theft, vandalism, and assaults using clubs and stones on residents defending their homes and livestock, causing severe injuries. Live fire and fatalities: In some raids, armed settlers fire at Palestinian residents. On Monday, 2 March, a settler shot and killed two brothers in the village of Qaryut; other shootings across the West Bank left additionalPalestinians injured. Land takeovers and economic damage: Settlers deliberately graze livestock in Palestinians’ cultivated fields, destroy crops and stored food, steal livestock, and vandalize solar panels and water tanks. Settlers have also used bulldozers to raze and take over privately owned Palestinian land. Army raids and home takeovers: The Israeli military has launched raids and mass arrests in villages throughout the West Bank. Soldiers have taken over at least 55 homes inside Palestinian communities (as of Thursday evening), where they remain for extended periods without clear military necessity. In several cases, soldiers forced families out of their homes, leaving them without shelter during war, while the soldiers themselves are protected inside the homes they invaded. Military takeover of Palestinian family homes is a practice Israel employed during its previous war on Iran in June 2025. It is a grave violation of the basic rights of Palestinian residents, first and foremost, the right to life. Fuel and gas shortage As the fuel shortage across the West Bank worsens, gas and fueling stations have seen long lines and rationing has been introduced. Missiles and lack of protection Missile fragments have fallen in several areas in the West Bank in the districts of Hebron, Bethlehem, Ramallah, Jenin, Nablus, and east of Jerusalem. The nearly three million Palestinians living in the West Bank have no access to shelters or warning systems, in stark contrast to the hundreds of Israeli settlements that have both.

Months of relentless violence by Israeli state-backed settler militias, soldiers and police forces have achieved their goal: the last remaining families in the Palestinian community of Ras ‘Ein al-‘Auja left this week. The largest shepherding community in the southern Jordan Valley, and the last to survive, was home to about 800 people, roughly half of them children. The area has now been completely emptied of Palestinians. Since October 2023, Israel has forcibly displaced 45 Palestinian communities in the West Bank, comprising at least 3,501 people. Another 12 communities were partially displaced, with at least 455 peopledriven from their homes. Expelling communities and taking over tens of thousands of hectares are part of a policy of ethnic cleansing that Israel is implementing in the West Bank.

On Saturday evening, 6 December 2025, Israeli soldiers stopped Palestinian vehicles and searched Palestinian shops in Hebron. At around 9:00 P.M., Ahmad Rajabi, 17, drove through the area. Soldiers called out to him to stop several meters after he passed them. As Rajabi began reversing, one soldier for no apparent reason fired several shots in the air, while another ran toward the car with his weapon aimed at Rajabi and tried to open the door. Likely frightened by the soldiers’ actions, Rajabi continued to turn the car around and hit a soldier. In response, seven soldiers fired a volley of indiscriminate shots at the car for about 32 seconds. The shooting killed Rajabi and Ziad Abu Dawoud, 53, a municipal sanitation worker who was working nearby. After the incident, soldiers removed the bodies, seized the vehicle and confiscated security cameras from nearby shops before leaving the area. Abu Dawud’s body was later returned to his family, while the military continues to hold Rajabi’s body. The past two years have been unprecedentedly destructive and deadly for Gaza. The scope of harm inflicted on the Strip and its inhabitants by the IDF is so vast it will take years to grasp the full picture. And yet, there is a lot we do know (pt 2) >>>

75 days into the “ceasefire”: the genocide in Gaza is not over Since the “ceasefire” was declared on 10 October 2025, Israel has been continuing its onslaught on the ground. Israeli forces have killed 405 Palestinians and injured 1,114 throughout the Gaza Strip (as of 22 December). Israeli forces continue to shoot residents and target Internally displaced people (IDP) compounds on either side of the “yellow line”, which left 58% of Gaza in Israeli control under the deal yet was never clearly marked. Nearly 1 million people who lived east of the line before the genocide are now crowded west of it in unlivable conditions. Israel continues to systematically demolish buildings and infrastructure east of the “yellow line”. Updated satellite images show hundreds of structures flattened in eastern Gaza City alone. Israel continues to heavily limit the entry of aid, allowing more trucks in but hampering full-scale operations by the UN and its partners through access and bureaucracy restrictions. As of 16 December, only 57% of 556 planned aid missions were completed, including delivery of essential supplies, medical evacuations and infrastructure repairs. Israel continues to restrict the operation of crossings in and out of Gaza. In mid-December, only two of the crossings were operating at any given time, and Rafah Crossing remained closed despite commitments to reopen it. More food has entered and market prices have dropped. However, after months of severe malnutrition, with limited variety and prices still unaffordable for most, the UN estimates that 1.6 million people in Gaza “are projected to face extreme levels of acute food insecurity” in 2026. Nearly 1.5 million displaced people are still in camps. Storm Byron flooded thousands of makeshift tents, inundating the Civil Defense in Gaza with emergency pleas for shelter and basic supplies. The Gaza Ministry of Health has reported 11 people killed by structures that collapsed in the storm and two children, one a newborn, who died of hypothermia. More than 18,500 patients, at least 4,000 of them children, are still awaiting medical evacuation from Gaza, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Israel has allowed only 260 patients out of Gaza for treatment in this time, after decimating the healthcare system there. Israel continues to bar the entry of medical teams and journalists, preventing lifesaving treatment and upholding the media blackout on documentation and reports from the ground. The so-called ceasefire has been in effect for 75 days. In practice, Israel is continuing its campaign of killing, destruction, displacement and complete control of Palestinians’ lives in Gaza. The international community must stop enabling this façade and take action to help the people of Gaza.

On 22 December 2025, dozens of Jerusalem Municipality workers, Israel Police officers and Border Police officers demolished a four-story residential building in Wadi Qadum, East Jerusalem, claiming it was built without a permit. The building contained 12 apartments where 77 Palestinians lived, including 21 minors. The demolition left all of them without shelter. During the operation, the forces blocked roads and threw stun grenades at Palestinians who approached. Soon after the forces arrived to clear the apartments, one of the inhabitants resisted and confronted them. He was later assaulted by the municipal workers. As part of its efforts to expel Palestinians and carry out ethnic cleansing, Israel enforces a policy that disrupts every aspect of life for Palestinian residents of East Jerusalem and is designed to push them out of their homes and city. This policy includes denying permits to build in accordance with the residents’ needs and carrying out home demolitions.

On Saturday, 20 December 2025, Israeli forces raided the town of Qabatiyah in the West Bank. Local youths responded by throwing stones at the armored jeeps. During the raid, and after the stone-throwing had ceased, a soldier shot 16 year old Rayan Abu M’ala. Eyewitnesses heard 3–5 shots fired from close range. The Israeli military claimed that the shooting was a response to Abu M’ala throwing a brick at the forces. However, footage from the scene refutes this claim. After the shooting, soldiers prevented a Palestinian ambulance from evacuating Abu M’ala, leaving him on the ground for about half an hour. He was later taken in a military jeep. His body has been held by Israel ever since. This is not an isolated case, but a direct result of a permissive open-fire policy in the West Bank. Since October 2023, Israel has killed 1,022 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 221 minors. Under Israel’s apartheid regime, Palestinian lives continue to be treated as expendable. Even when killings are carried out in front of cameras, and when it is clear they were committed in violation of the rules and the law, no one is held accountable. The international community has a duty to do everything in its power to stop Israel’s crimes.
