I help businesses advertise in newsletters. Why should you advertise in newsletters? 1. 88% of emails are opened within 24 hours. So you acquire customers the same day 2. Ads in newsletters don't suffer from 'banner blindness' 3. Ad blockers don't work on emails

@miqchris Are you seeing average open rates at around 26% too? And what do you think your real open rates are, around 12 to 15% maybe? I appreciate the time you are taking to respond.

Yeah Beehiiv doesn’t currently have insights to my knowledge of how they calculate open rates and how they filter any activity. The have the verified click rate metric which is their filtered click rate based on what they think is real behavior. But they don’t share that on the open right now from what I’m aware of.

💡Optimizing for opens in 2026 is like optimizing for TV ratings in the streaming era. The measurement broke. The audience didn't.

@miqchris So I work with many newsletters to find them sponsorships. Most clients use Beehiv of course, some substack. But the open rate seems to be around 23% to 30% for all of them. Avg around 26%

@AdBroker What ESPN are you using? Before Apple and MPP a good open rate was in the 20’s

The open rate you see is most liked higher than it actually is. Each ESP has its own way of trying to filter opens so there is no way to really tell by how much. Here’s an example from one of my newsletters on customer.io. You can see the normal open rate is 2x higher than their human open rate metric they released last year.

There more I think about this, the more I dislike it. Perhaps I'm not the target audience, because I don't unlock my phone with the intention of figuring out what I need to do next. I unlock it because I know what I want to do next. I want my phone use to be intentional. A UI that is constantly shifting does not enable that.

excited to share what we have been up to. your iphone’s home screen hasn’t changed in ~20 years. it’s the same static grid of icons since launch with zero awareness of your actual life. @skye is a new agentic home screen for iphone. no telegram. no mac mini. & no claws required. skye is ambient intelligence that just works. it continuously listens to your context & acts on it. it builds your reading lists, gives you personalized weather, drafts email replies, prepares you for meetings & trips, flags suspicious charges, works through your reminders, tracks your health, & gives you one tap intel on wherever you are (restaurants, museums, neighborhoods, etc). all surfaced on your home screen. over the next few posts i’ll break down how it works, why we built it, & why we think it deserves to exist in the world. beta starts today. if you’re on the list, you’ll get access very soon. app store shortly after. deeply appreciate you all following along on this fun little journey. also please join our discord !

🚨 The 5 warning signs your email program is heading for trouble: 1. Spam rate climbing (even if still under 0.1%) 2. BSS shrinking week-over-week 3. Gmail domain rep at Medium (not Low — Medium) 4. Click rate dropping while opens hold steady 5. Bounce rate ticking up (new acquisition quality issue) Any one of these alone: monitor. Two or more: act immediately.

People love to hate on @MonocleMag but they take risks and are generally ahead of where the market is going Not saying this is the future of media but they continue to do innovative things with their retail presence

I will never use @TrustVanta again after how they just treated us. My company was acquired in August of 2025. We promptly emailed Vanta to inform them that we are shutting down our business and need to cancel. After 1 month, they finally replied with direction. "Can you send us acquisition documents?" I replied back and said "I can't legally share our acquisition documents with a vendor, what do you need?" They then ghosted us until January of 2026 (5 months later). During this time, they charged us for 2 quarterly payments (about $5K total). In January 2026, they finally said they need a certificate of dissolution, which I sent to them. They then refunded us $700. I asked for a refund dating back to August 26th when we initially sent the cancellation email. They responded with, "we cannot refund you because the Vanta software was still running until January of 2026. " It was running BECAUSE YOU GHOSTED US AND DIDN'T PROCESS OUR CANCELLATION. @christinacaci is this how you do business and treat your customers who trusted you for 2+ years?

Technically anyone you generate leads from. Could be Meta, Google, TikTok, Co-Reg, Native Ad Networks (Taboola, Outbrain, etc.), Email Ads, Affiliate networks. Anywhere you generate traffic from or get signups from to get subscribers on your list. In this case it was a co-reg network.

Had this conversation with a Publisher this week. "Our open rates dropped 30% in 60 days." I asked, “What changed with your acquisition source?” Silence. Then… “We switched to a cheaper lead vendor in January.” That's it. That's the whole story. Cheap leads can be the most expensive leads you'll buy. Always understand your activation rates!
