Saying God is goodness itself is meaningless. It’s just saying God is God. When people say x is Good they don’t mean x is God. So you have to define what you mean by Goodness and then show God meets that definition. Otherwise you are not saying anything at all about God.

Yes. Aquinas 's view is admittedly a little confusing, but think of it as how the Simple Essence relates to itself through its activity within itself. The Essence itself is loved and beloved, and these relations of one "thing" to itself subsist within in, even though there is only one "thing". God does not have "parts" (divine simplicity), but the relationships that subsist within the one being define the distinction between the persons of the Trinity. The Son is not the Father, but God is coequal and coeternal in Himself. It's difficult to wrap your head around, but analogical predication helps to explain the limitations of human language when describing God.
