@SpineNeuro No apologies from me for publishing a study with a primary outcome that is negative. There is still much to learn here and this is a population that we can do more to help.

@AdamArthurMD I’d love to hear you sing Rocky Top. (And that softball tourney is one of the cooler things we do.)

Images and video from recent endoscopic spine case. Amazing that this can be done thru 1cm incision and no bone removal. An amazing option for patients. I'm happy to offer this option!

We are heartbroken by the profound and unimaginable loss of Michael W. Groff, MD, FAANS, former Chair of the NREF, whose passing, along with that of several beloved members of his family—including his daughter, Karenna Groff, a 2024 NREF Medical Student Summer Research Fellowship Grant awardee—has left an indelible void in our community. Dr. Groff was a remarkable leader, colleague and friend whose dedication to advancing neurosurgical education and research will continue to inspire generations to come. Karenna’s talent and commitment to the field of neurosurgery were evident to all who knew her. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the Groff family and all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy. Their memory will forever remain in our hearts.

The AANS mourns the loss of Michael W. Groff, MD, FAANS — a visionary spine surgeon, mentor and leader whose legacy shaped generations of neurosurgeons. We honor his extraordinary life and lasting impact on our field.

There were two Neurosurgery chief residents who’d hug for 60 seconds every am before rounds to promote well being.

2024 was probably the best year of my entire life. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude thinking about what all has happened this year and how my dreams finally came true. I finished my pediatric neurosurgery fellowship in Memphis, officially becoming a pediatric neurosurgeon, (1/13)
