@oldestasian It absolutely does. If you are super congested to where each breath through your nostrils takes 15 seconds of sustained voluntary effort with your breathing muscles… If you just force yourself to endure this discomfort for 1-2 minutes, your congestion will clear.

ADHD is remembering a birthday a week in advance, forgetting on the actual day, feeling too much shame to text, buying a late gift, never mailing it, and letting the guilt haunt you for a decade

There's this vending machine on this random mountain road in rural Japan that I passed during a hiking trip. Middle of nowhere, no buildings around, just this vending machine. I needed water so I stopped. The machine was fully stocked, drinks, snacks, everything. Prices were normal, not marked up even though it's the only vending machine for miles. There was an old man restocking it while I was there. I asked him in broken Japanese if he owns it. He said yes. Asked how often he comes to restock it. He said once a week, sometimes twice if it's summer and people are hiking more. I did the math in my head, the drive up there is at least 40 minutes from the nearest town, winding mountain roads. Gas, time, effort... there's no way he's making much profit. I asked him why he keeps it running. He said "someone might need a cold drink after a long hike." Then he told me he used to hike this mountain with his wife before she passed. They always wished there was a vending machine at this spot. So when she died, he put one there. "I restock it every week. It's like I'm still taking care of her, yunno? Making sure the mountain has what she wished it had." I bought three drinks I didn't need. It felt like the least I could do.

@AutisticClip Not understanding that Skylar was in a horrifying situation and acting completely rationally and that she was more or less completely blameless is a sign of complete failure to understand the point of Breaking Bad

Took the triplets to a desolate beach for their birthday. Had them build rock people. Promised them we will go to Internet to choose who made the best rock person. Drop a comment: Kid A Kid B Kid C Winner gets to plan itinerary tomorrow.

I once read somewhere that after an especially exhausting life, some souls choose to reincarnate as a tree spending a century just resting. I haven't looked at trees the same since then

My boss's boss is like 42, never married, no kids. Earns $275-300K per year. Goes on a minimum of two international vacations a year w/ his girlfriend. 10+ days, all out. Eats the best food, stays in top notch accomodations. Excursions, tours, nicest beaches, etc. Great guy, I'm happy for him. But what I've realized is that without kids, you end up chasing a lifestyle that has to continually be topped in order for you to be satisfied and find happiness. What he and others like him don't understand is that when you have children, seeing THEM experience life's most basic things and watching their eyes light up at all the "firsts", brings greater pleasure and joy than any vacation or travel experience ever could. Seeing THEM try blueberries for the first time is greater than dining at the best 5 star restaurant in Europe. Seeing THEM learn how to walk is greater than walking the Great Wall of China or strolling along the most picturesque beach. Watching THEM giggle uncontrollably at "peek-a-boo" tops any A-list comedian act. Seeing THEIR excitement when building a fort out of cardboard boxes and making a door big enough for daddy is superior to staying at 5-star resorts. Flying kites with THEM far outweighs excursions like parasailing or helicopter rides. Seeing THEM perform a recital on stage for the first time is more rewarding than watching a Broadway show or top notch symphony orchestra. ----------------- When you have children, all of a sudden you realize that life's greatest joys are not in the pursuit of things or pleasure or travel, but rather in the LOVE and bond you share with your very own image bearers. Seeing the beauty and magnificence and wonder of life all over again for the first time through THEIR eyes and expressions gives you something the world simply cannot offer, nor even come close.

Blue voters are so full of shit on so many levels. 1. The question is not over whether you are selfless its whether you think most people are. Even the most holier than thou lib believes most people are selfish and thus would not press blue. 2. If everyone just presses red no one dies. blue adds unnecessary death. 3. They are moralizing the experiment to ask “what is the good person answer” rather than honestly reflecting on what theyd do if it really happened. I guarantee you that you put any person in that room and say “if you vote blue but most people dont, we will SHOOT YOU” that not one single person will take that risk, especially given #1.
Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

@waitbutwhy You press blue because you don’t want to live in a world where only the red pushers survived. All the blue pushers are at least one of the following: (1) instinct and empathy minded (2) kinda logically dumb (the world needs normies) (3) not a filthy red pusher

This is what is coming for Bitcoin. This is an expanded flat correction. And they are highly aggressive once they bounce back up into HTF trend after the C wave low. Straight through ATHs like butter, and then simply holding that level. You love to see it. No one expected this because that is what expanded flats do. They trap bears under the break of structure, then squeeze the life out of them which creates the most insane reversal. Everyone is convinced of devastating new lows at that C wave... and the opposite happens. The Expanded Flat is a highly bullish trending pattern that confuses the most amount of people. Bitcoins turn next.

@caprioleio What exactly do you fear will occur? As others have stated, the self adjusting block difficulty will maintain supply & price & profit incentive equilibrium… So then, are you mostly concerned about 51% attack concerns due to the global network shrinking or something else?

This is a wild and concerning trend for Bitcoin. This is far worse than I had realized. This is a list of all the major public Bitcoin miners. ALL have made statements to pivot to AI. ALL are targeting major shares of revenue from AI from here, not Bitcoin. On average current Bitcoin revenue is expected to drop from 90% to just 30% in the next 2-3 years! Do you see a pattern? The stocks doing the best in recent years all jumped into AI big time. Those with 80%+ AI share of revenue targets saw their stocks climb up over 500% on average. Those targeting <60% AI revenue saw 1/10th the growth, with many having negative 2 year returns. The message is clear. If these numbers are even half accurate, and they are based on direct company statements, the energy and commitment to Bitcoin is under significant threat over the next 2-3 years. All while Quantum computing is taking off and poses an existential threat to Bitcoin unless we change the code. Many of these miners are not even planning to upgrade or renew Bitcoin mining hardware at all, simply running out lifespan of the existing and reinvesting only in AI. The market has been voting with its feet. Now the miners are voting with their feet. Just as Bitcoin is about to approach its biggest ever threat in the coming years, the backbone of its security is leaving the industry. Bitcoin used to be famed for having the biggest computing network in the world. It's now collapsing into AI at record pace.
