Right now, Holocaust survivor Stephen Kapos is at the Nakba Day demonstration in London. The 88-year-old has attended almost every demonstration in the last two year’s protesting Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Stephen stands and sits with family and members of his group the ‘Holocaust Survivors & Descendants Against the Genocide in Gaza’.
He told us:
"Today, we commemorate not only the 1948 violent displacement and dispossession of hundreds of thousands of Palestinian Arabs during the creation of the State of Israel. But the unlawful occupation of Palestinian land and the ongoing genocide in Gaza.”
“Justice for the Palestinians must be demanded and fought for by peoples of the world to force their own governments to act to end Israel's genocide, occupation and apartheid.”
“That is why these marches have been attacked so much – it is the threat we pose to injustice. And the symbol of solidarity and hope we represent.”

I stand against Amnesty UK @AmnestyUK for weaponizing Holocaust survivors to launder the lie of a genocide in Gaza AND support for the Nakba narrative. This narrative is the core stumbling block for advancing peace. It does not support a two state solution for two peoples. The Nakba narrative is the story of 7 Arabs countries attempting to ethnically cleanse the Jews of Palestine. To essentially destroy the Jewish state and its people.
In real time, the Arabs coined the word, Nakba, to describe their shame from being defeated by the lowly Jews (Jews had second-class dhimmi status throughout the Ottoman Empire). Outnumbered and outgunned, the Jews of Palestine fought mightily against the massive Arab attack, as if the entire Jewish people was at genocidal risk because it was. The extreme political left and right are currently promoting the Nakba narrative. They’re not supporting a two state solution for two nations. Good people’s energy should be entirely focused on this goal to further peace. #peace

The word “Nakba” (catastrophe) wasn’t invented by Palestinians to describe Jewish “ethnic cleansing.” It was coined in 1948 by a Syrian Arab historian, Constantin Zureiq, in his book The Meaning of the Disaster. He used it to describe the humiliating failure of the Arab world — their leaders’ arrogance, their lies to their own people, their military incompetence, and their refusal to accept a Jewish state. Zureiq wrote that the Arabs had “imaginary victories” and put their public “to sleep” with boasts — until the real disaster hit: they couldn’t wipe out the Jews. The original Nakba wasn’t about refugees. That a rebrand from several decades later. It was about the Arab leaders’ catastrophic decision to launch a war of extermination ... and lose. They’ve spent 77 years rebranding their own failure as Jewish guilt. That’s the only real "Nakba" they can’t forgive.

78 years ago, more than 700,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes, their villages destroyed, their identity denied.
The Nakba - the Catastrophe - didn’t end in 1948.
It continues today in every demolished home, every illegal settlement.
