Financial transparency and accountability are of the utmost importance to me. I am proud to have spearheaded measures ensuring that funds approved in any future referendum are dedicated exclusively to their stated goals: compensating our great teachers and keeping our schools safe! These resources must never be diverted to supplement the compensation of highly paid District staff. @smtravis @SunSentinel

Should @browardschools replace 2 $50,000-a-year public records clerks with a 3-year outsourced contract that's proposed to cost $1.2 million over 3 years ($400,000 a year)? The proposed spend was posted in the minutes of a Dec. public meeting on MWBE goal setting.

When the District made the costly mistake of signing a long-term, multimillion-dollar lease, I pushed to lawfully terminate it. Instead of defending our position, the District just voted to hand over $270,000 to settle. This is exactly what waste looks like. Watch my comments below 👇

When I learned that referendum dollars meant for teachers were being redirected to high-level District staff, I spoke up. I called for an independent, outside investigation to find out how this happened, restore public trust, and put real safeguards in place so it never happens again. This is a 100% student-led experience where our students showcase their leadership in action, as part of their “Leader in Me”program.
