@TaylorLorenz Reese's post, in which she almost religiously asserts AI's inevitability and how important it is to use it "the right way", without even attempting to describe its utility, is striking people as ridiculous, and unlike their experience with other products. So they liked my joke :)

@TaylorLorenz I think people -- most of whom were alive in the 90s, as I was -- are liking my silly joke because the sweaty, overheated nature of AI & crypto marketing in the last decade feels different, and faintly ridiculous. People laugh at jokes bc they speak to their emotional truth.

Almost 30k likes on a tweet that’s not true at all. Fellow Millennials might not remember, but there was a VERY concerted effort to get women (and people) on the internet itself! And yes celebs were enlisted in those efforts! The idea that tech marketing is new is very silly

I don't recall any previous transformative technologies having to be sold so desperately. No one in 1999 was going, "Guys. Cell phone? It's coming, whether we like it or not. I think it's important, FOR WOMEN ESPECIALLY, to learn about cell phone. So that we're not left behind!!"

When I’m mayor, LA will be a reliable partner to film productions. We’ll staff a real city film office, eliminate fees for smaller productions, simplify permitting, and get rid of ridiculous conditions that stall production.

If you call Film LA, the very first option is to report a production you think should be shut down for not having a permit. The third option is to try and get a permit. If you don't get your application in my 10am a week before the shoot, they will not process your application. Not 10:05, not 12pm. Must be in by 10am. When you speak to the person at Film LA, they truly sound like they don't even want you to shoot there. I hope whoever our next mayor is shuts down Film LA and makes it free and easy to get a permit. LA has the best crews, the best casts, the best weather. It shouldn't be cheaper and easier to fly to Oklahoma and shoot there than it is to shoot at home. It's time to bring filmmaking back to LA.
