Not even going to comment on the blatant double standard here. Putting that aside for now, what @RoKhanna is trying to do here is strategically inept. It charts a path that will satisfy no one and piss off everyone. This prevarication is exactly what people are tired of.
COMBATE |🇵🇷@upholdreality

Scahill: "Did Palestinian forces have a right to attack those military bases?" Khanna: "No..." Scahill: "Did Israel have a right to drop a single bomb on Gaza in response to October 7th?" Khanna: "I believe Israel had the right..." Scahill: "It's a double standard."

1) El-Sayed would be an easier candidate for Republicans to beat in the general election. 2) AIPAC isnt against *us*, they're against anti-Israel people. 3) More important perhaps than either, El-Sayed is a known liar who cozies up with terrorist and Russia supporters. He's not gonna work for the people of Michigan, he's gonna work for the Platner Class.
Jolah@jolahpolitics

So we should support the right-wings favorite candidate because AIPAC will spend against the other option? And you think AIPAC will spare us if we give them what they want with Stevens? This is an INSANE admission.

Idk man. I just feel like Ro Khanna is very very out of his depth at this point. He doesn’t strike me as a particularly thoughtful or passionate legislator. He strikes me as a career backbencher who has wandered into some good political issues to exploit. And he’s a deer in headlights.
Charlie from the river to the sea 🇵🇸 تشارلي ديبه@IMDibe

Khanna: I’m much more Dr. King than Malcolm X Scahill: Are you much more slave rebellions were justified against people that were raping, hanging, murdering Africans who had been kidnapped? I mean, I’m sorry, I spend most of my day and night talking w/ Palestinians…

If the establishment Democrats fought as hard for working people as they do against the progressive wing of the party, our lives would be a lot better.

what i can never fully wrap my head around re: this argument: as socialists in the imperial core, we are already deeply complicit in and responsible for empire’s violence why would it be uniquely disastrous to unite behind the effort most materially likely to dismantle empire?
Cosmonaut ☭@CosmonautMag

Is a DSA-backed AOC presidency in 2029 possible? Noah Emke says yes; it will also be a disaster for a nascent socialist movement unprepared for national power and wedded to a project of managed imperial decline. cosmonautmag.com/2026/07/just-s…

@HelenBrosnan It's just evidence that nobody in American politics knows how to buy media effectively, and that advertising agencies in the election space have brainwashed people to think they are magicians who can make results appear out of thin air.

This should be revolting to anyone who gives a shit about our democracy.
Ally Mutnick@allymutnick

By my count: #MISEN outside ad spending for Rep Haley Stevens (D) is about to cross $50 million (!) More than half of the total ($28.4M) is coming from United Democracy Project, AIPAC's super PAC Another $11.4M is from a newly formed super PAC that hasn't reported donors yet

I can't believe grown adults actually think this way, or at least perform and express that they do. Ads are not a bribe. Maybe kickbacks. But that's never what any of these Berniecrat types are talking about.

Ads are promotional media (paid or in-kind) that place content in front of people via print, outdoor, online, etc. in an interruptive or placement fashion. A $50M budget allows you to buy a lot of spots, maybe even the creative with it. A bribe would be giving an election official $50M to announce your candidate as the winner despite not receiving enough votes. Or hiring somebody to falsify ballots. Or maybe rig a counting machine to output a fraudulent result. The people who hype up the value of paid ads are the people who sell them. But they don't have the net effect of illegally forcing a result and it is childish as well as self-defeating to pretend that one has to raise ungodly amounts of money to win elections.

"It's the equivalent of the groypers taking over the Republican Party." - Former DSA member @TradeUnionJake on the DSA takeover of the Democratic Party.
Batya Ungar-Sargon@bungarsargon

"They really are Leninists. People who have a totalitarian worldview. They hate the United States. They will form an alliance with any group that hates the United States because this is fundamental to their beliefs." Former DSA member @TradeUnionJake sounds the alarm on the DSA takeover of the Democratic Party. Full conversation: batya-us.com/p/inside-the-d…

When podcasters and politicians say that basically whoever spends the most on advertising is "buying" their seat in office, what they are admitting to is the following: • they think voters are too dumb to make up their mind by their beliefs • they are able to be paid enough to change their expressed beliefs • they don't know how bribery works It's actually annoying as shit and does a disservice to candidates or groups who have little to no money, making them think that they cannot win or succeed.

Building a political organization of over 100,000 (paying) members like DSA has done is impressive for sure, but calling themselves *the biggest socialist* thing in American history is only true by raw numbers not per capita reality. In other words, in the 1910's there were almost the same number of people in a socialist group, but our population was ~30% of the size. Communist group(s) were smaller than that but these days many critics lump them in together so for the sake of argument it's almost the same number of people as it was +/- 100 years ago but density is so much less that it is not really even comparable. For all the hubbub within the group today, and about them from the *right* it is not really progressing and this makes perfect sense in terms of seeing how fragmented & disorganized they really are. I've been encouraged by the conversations I'm having and frankly the open-mindedness of people who are willing to talk to me, but ultimately if they want anything out of government and politics they are going to have to abandon this idea they are gripping to.

I think a DSA split is probably a good thing, but if not, then let them run AOC and expose themselves.
