Inspired by this study, I've created a "paleo-soundscape" where a Smilodon fatalis proclaims his territory at the break of dawn. This is simply one of many interpretations of the study's results; I found myself referencing puma and ocelot vocalizations. Hope you enjoy it!

Did Smilodon roar? Check out our new paper in which PhD student Ashley Deutsch led an analysis of felid hyoid bones from @labreatarpits and compared them to modern purring and roaring cats with surprising results! @JournalofMorph onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

Carolina Tiger Rescue contributes to research conducted by @NCState professor Dr. @AdamHRose and team, including lead author and former animal care intern Lara Martens. Amazing work that proves why declawing big cats is an objectively cruel practice: news.ncsu.edu/2023/07/why-yo…

Now that #ICVM2023 is a wrap, I’m taking a moment to reflect on @ISVMorph’s exceptionally collegial culture. It’s wonderful to see such a supportive community that appreciates the diversity of systems, questions and approaches, 1/2
