This is how I watch. I see plots, not episodes
If you make a 6 part story, I see one plot, not 6 episodes
That's why I love stand alone series, it means I have more plots

If I were Doctor Who head honcho, I would have every story be a standalone adventure, so people can dip in whenever they like, watch their favourite story without a load of season arc guff getting in the way and alienating people.

i don’t think there should be a whole tolkien/lord of the rings cinematic universe, however, it’s clearly going to happen - so my question is WHY are the most boring parts of the legendarium being adapted? hunting gollum? the hobbits minus frodo? who is deciding this?!

On the other hand I am excited about all the Game of Thrones projects being announced. Maybe because they're adapting major events George wrote rather than artificially expanding a few chapters
