Trend is working on a non-Chia blockchain project. This is what I've heard. The initial plan was to have 20–30 trusts up and running by now. Understood. I still think this is not a good product for most people and the numbers, from what I can tell, are much worse than the normal GPU NFTs. For example, I could make my effective tax rate round down to 0% by using bonus depreciation (investing in GPUs year 1) and continue reinvesting every year to try and offset my taxes as much as possible. Compare that to (year 1) me paying 30% taxes on income then coming up with extra money to invest in this product and then pay 10% taxes on that. I think the first strategy allows people to build up equity more efficiently similar to how people use real estate to build up more real estate. There hasn't been a single GPU NFT for sale since the second launch that was a very long time ago when the details of this were not fully articulated. Now trying to raise $2M through fractional NFT sales? Why??? There are not thousands of people waiting in line to spend hundreds of dollars on something as niche as this. I'll wrap this rant up by saying, I get that they (and you) are casting a wide net but this seems like an OK product for the masses instead of a great product for the perfect crowd.

So to clarify, the pool is a smart contract with a steward handling taxes at that level. Depreciation is still being taken, those savings just stay in the pool rather than hitting your personal return. If that doesn't work for your tax situation, direct RWA ownership is still on the table. Pool's an option, not the only path.

Depreciating hardware against personal income is one of the best tax advantages normal working people have. Instead of getting a tax break for tens of thousands of dollars through depreciation, I now get the privilege of paying 10.4% extra tax on NEW money invested solely into this project. Not allowing any synergies with the Chia ecosystem. Best of all, we all get to bear the burden of California by paying taxes to it even when we don't live there. Great job @silicondotnet

All valuable feedback—these are real tradeoffs. There's a needle to thread between liquidity, technical constraints, and business realities. On depreciation specifically: that value is being fed directly into the pool rather than lost. With a decentralized token structure, this was the cleanest way to pass that benefit through. Different than traditional ownership, but not missing. The friction points around conversion paths are heard. Appreciate people pressure-testing this.

Pretty disappointing overall. They desperately need users yet are making the whole process as inefficient as possible. Whether it's converting XCH to USDC.b or using Circuit DAO to withdraw BYC then to USDC.b you are losing almost all of the profit up front. Not to mention they are paying CA tax on every dollar earned and also taking the ability to depreciate the hardware off the table with this pooling token. I believe there are lots of people who want to invest in Silicon GPUs but simply cannot.

@ShiftySituation warp.green supports BYC directly, so you can skip the w.USDC.b conversion. On the broader point—CNI is on the governing board, so Chia ecosystem alignment is definitely part of the conversation. Feedback like this is useful.
