@vinnywhufc I agree but what youth players do we have that are actually good enough? Players have moved on like Ashby he doesn’t play for Newcastle. Because a player scored 40 goals at under 18 level doesn’t mean he’s good enough for the prem. Sears being a prime example of this.

Fans want youth but… they don’t really. They want players signed from European clubs or untested Brazilian young players because this on paper seems so much better. West Ham are a club that want everything now without building anything which is why we are in a stadium that may hold over 60k but doesn’t equate to anything like the revenue Arsenal and Tottenham produce. West Ham under David Sullivan have always been a club that want to look big and serious but it doesn’t take much to look behind the curtain to see it’s just hollow. This why we just need to enjoy the good seasons and cherish the good moments. There is no “building” or “consistency”. It’s just a myth. Thats why we sign so many shite non British players and the turn over is so high. We had a really good group of youngsters who won the youth cup in 2023 but none will ever become first team regulars at West Ham. Thats not just about us in fairness that’s Premier League football in general sadly. Even When players like Flynn Downes and James Ward Prowse are being moved on in place of players with exotic names then you know there isn’t much chance of an 18/19 year old youngster getting a chance.
