“We are unable to provide sufficient clarity about his attitude to the genocidal regime in Tel Aviv” The Flanders Festival Ghent just canceled the Munich Philharmonic’s concert because its future chief conductor Lahav Shani is Israeli. They admit it’s not about art, but about his role with the Israel Philharmonic. They accuse him of failing to “distance” himself enough from Israel, despite him speaking out for peace. This isn’t politics, it’s pure antisemitic discrimination. A Jewish Israeli musician is singled out, and punished, not for anything he’s said or done, but simply for being tied to Israel. Europe promised “Never Again.” Canceling Jewish musicians for being Jewish and Israeli shows how fast those promises are unraveling.

The decision by the Flanders Festival Ghent to cancel a performance by the Munich Philharmonic, solely because its future conductor, Lahav Shani, is Israeli and leads the Israel Philharmonic, is deeply alarming. This is not a protest. It is discrimination. Targeting artists because of their nationality is unacceptable and undermines the very foundations of European cultural and democratic values. They only fuel hatred, with concrete consequences on European streets. Lahav Shani is internationally recognized not only for his musical excellence but also for his commitment to dialogue and peace. We stand firmly against this disturbing trend of singling out Israelis for exclusion. Cultural boycotts of this kind do nothing to advance peace, they only spread intolerance.

I went to church today for Easter—not because I’m Christian or trying to be. I went out of respect for my boyfriend’s family, who are. I don’t follow any religion, and I honestly can’t see myself ever going back to one. The whole message was about love. That God loves you. Jesus loves you. He died for your sins. And sitting there, I couldn’t help but compare it to what I grew up with. I practiced Islam until I was 18. I was religious. I’ve been to more Islamic ceremonies and events than I can count. And let me tell you: fear is at the core of everything. You’re constantly reminded how you’ll burn in hell if you don’t blindly follow what Mohammad said. There’s no message of love. No warmth. No compassion. Just threats. Just control. The Muslim god isn’t a merciful one—he’s a tyrant, always ready to throw you into hell over the smallest thing. Today just reminded me how deeply I hate Islam. Islam is not a religion of peace. It’s a religion of fear, hate, and violence.

Keine #Wahlunterlagen bei mir in London angekommen! Bei der #Bundestagswahl können viele Deutsche im Ausland ihr Wahlrecht nicht ausüben. Fristen wurden zu knapp kalkuliert, die Verfahren sind zu bürokratisch. Eine Reform ist dringend notwendig. @Wahlleitung_de
