Tens of thousands of students, teachers, and university staff marched in Buenos Aires on Tuesday in defense of free public education and to demand President Javier Milei reverse his funding cuts to public universities. During his administration, Milei has attacked universities as bastions of “woke indoctrination.” Similar protests were also held in Cordoba, Rosario, La Plata and Mar del Plata.

Video: the Japanese Communist Party's leader took to the streets to speak with voters. People associate the word "communism" with some of the worst regimes in history. She tried to convince two young people that the USSR and PRC weren't really communist.

My immediate priority on the CEC will be to work to put trade unions at the heart of building our new party – and to campaign for the widest anti-austerity and anti-war challenge in the 2026 elections. Your Party conference decisively rejected a ban on dual membership. Jeremy and Zarah have consistently said Your Party will be different, fully controlled by its members. I therefore believe the members should be allowed to vote for whom they want on the CEC, with no bans on candidates decided in secret! Next week, I hope to be able to explain to you in more detail why I am seeking your nomination. Solidarity.
