European governments figured out a neat trick: tax American companies, pass the cost onto their own businesses, and call it "making Big Tech pay their fair share." @TaxReformer and @Tholos Foundation just dropped a full report on it. 🧵

As I said after the World Series, baseball has clearly re-established itself as the number-two sport in the country, behind football. There's no debate at this point. America wants to watch March baseball more than the culmination of the NBA season. The WBC final comfortably outdrew Games 1-6 of the 2025 NBA Finals and beat the series average. Before you pin that on Thunder-Pacers, the WBC Final also outdrew Game 4 of the 2024 NBA Finals and was 500,000 viewers shy of beating the series average. 2024 featured two top-10 TV media markets, legitimate NBA star power in Luka, and NBA royalty in the Celtics. There should be panic at NBA headquarters over this, and MLB should be terrified of a work stoppage that would kill this momentum.
FOX Sports PR@FOXSportsPR

A legendary game calls for a legendary viewership number as 10,784,000 viewers watched the #WorldBaseballClassic final on FOX and FOX Deportes - the most-watched #WBC telecast ever 🏆 The 2026 WBC averaged 1,294,000 viewers across FOX, FS1 and FS2, making it the most-watched #WBC in its 20-year history across English language networks.

@margbrennan There are about 160 million to 230 million Christians in the country. Not sure why invoking Jesus’s name would be scandalous to anyone but a very small slice of the media.

Zohran Mamdani wants a 70% death tax on New Yorkers. That's the combined federal-state rate if his proposal passes. The highest in the world. He also wants to drop the exemption threshold from $7M to $750K — the lowest in the country. New York is already losing people. This would accelerate it. buff.ly/dMITmJ7

The race to zero income tax is real and accelerating. Utah: 6th cut in 6 years ✅ SC: trigger to zero enacted this month ✅ MO: phaseout passed the House, Senate next ✅ States that get this right will pull ahead on jobs, investment, and people. Everyone else will fall behind. buff.ly/iYrDIaT

This digital necromancy is a very bad idea. First of all what makes a great actor is their unexpected, inspired choices in a given role; A glance, a grimace, an extended phrase. The AI Val Kilmer will be denied all of those uniquely human and very personal choices. It will be an extended facsimile of an actor without his fire or ingenuity- a hallow show. In addition to which, the deceased Kilmer will be saddled with a performance and a role he has no agency over. This is a violation of his dignity and his work as a living artist.
Variety@Variety

FIRST LOOK: Val Kilmer has been resurrected via AI to star in the new movie "As Deep as the Grave." Kilmer was cast in the movie in 2020, five years before his death. But he was too sick amid his throat cancer battle to ever make it to set. Now an AI version of the actor is appearing in the film, with the full blessing of his daughter, Mercedes: "He always looked at emerging technologies with optimism as a tool to expand the possibilities of storytelling. This spirit is something that we are all honoring within this specific film, of which he was an integral part.” “He was the actor I wanted to play this role,” says writer-director Coerte Voorhees. “It was very much designed around him. It drew on his Native American heritage and his ties to and love of the Southwest... His family kept saying how important they thought the movie was and that Val really wanted to be a part of this. He really thought it was important story that he wanted his name on. It was that support that gave me the confidence to say, okay let’s do this. Despite the fact some people might call it controversial, this is what Val wanted.” wp.me/pc8uak-1lH1PI

@nikitabier Good to know this is being prioritized. For everyday users and engaged citizens, being able to trust what they're reading is what makes the platform worth using. Curious how the verification layer holds up at scale.

The fortress we are building—and the layers of redundancy—to protect the platform against the AI Slopacalypse will seem obvious in a few months. Whether we use every tool in our toolkit is TBD, but it would be negligent to not have them ready.

@TPCarney Trading PCA to prop up a mediocre team with half a year of Baez was criminally stupid even if PCA had not turned out to be a very good player.

I miss Wheeler & DeGrom. I will miss Pete and Nimmo and even McNeil. It's sad to root for a team of free agents, when we had so much awesome home grown talent. (Don't even mention PCA).

@TPCarney I miss Jake, but I was over Pete and McNeil. The previous construction was aging out of their prime. We have so much talent coming up now: Benge, McClean, Baty, Alvy, Peterson, Tong, Scott, etc. I think the future is much brighter than our recent experiences.

Caught an early screening of Project Hail Mary last night. Gosling gives the performance of his career opposite Rocky, a puppet-performed space alien, and it's the emotional core of the film. Sci-fi hasn't felt this alive in years. See it in IMAX: buff.ly/EONEADE

U.S. firms already pay nearly $3 billion annually in DSTs. The @TaxReformer / @Tholos Foundation report estimates cumulative costs could reach $117 billion by 2035 if adoption spreads. This is taxation without representation, exported globally. Read the full report: buff.ly/zQTHeWj

@taxreformer @tholos When the UK introduced its DST, Amazon, Google, and Apple all raised fees and charges on businesses serving UK users, each explicitly citing the tax. The statutory burden hit American firms. The real cost hit British businesses and consumers.

@taxreformer The targeting is by design. In Spain and France, the vast majority of firms subject to these taxes are American. Domestic firms are largely unaffected. French ministers even called it the "GAFA tax." They said the quiet part out loud.
