I don't advocate for fair #Crypto regulations because I think it will make one bit of difference to the inevitable #Blockchain economy. I do it because I don't want to see my country left behind. 🇺🇸

@AdamRusch @InASingleWord I'm not mad at Charles...I am aware that I don't see the whole picture of what it takes to run the tech. I am a proponent of "taking the training wheels off", but we need to make sure we have something in place to support it. Hope to see you guys in Vegas?

But that’s kinda the problem. Charles was willing to let IOG lose money on Blockfrost and Charli3 because he saw them as loss leaders to get people into the network. He has made it clear that the training wheels are now coming off. If you want to be mad at him for creating dependency on subsidized infrastructure, I suppose you can. But this is the opposite of a grift, it’s literally asking the community if they want to keep the subsidized infrastructure going or throw this to the market to see who wants to run the open-source code.

To the 73% of you already running node v11.0.1: well done! 👏 To the remaining 27% who still haven't updated, just know that on July 18th, your node will stall. Hard fork and decentralization oblige. 🧐🤌

@prestonjbyrne THANK YOU! This has been my point as well. So typical of the government to say our official policy is to lie even about what time it is… 😅

Following a pause to the Hydra Voting platform last week, we can confirm that voting is now reopen for the Constitutional Committee elections 2026 facilitated by Intersect. DReps can once again login and cast their vote for the 4 candidates to be put forward in the on-chain Update Committee governance action. Voting closes: July 23, 2026 at 21:45 UTC intersect.ekklesia.vote/ballots/6a3ff1…

Hydra Voting Platform Update Following essential maintenance performed overnight, the Hydra Voting platform is currently experiencing technical issues while services are being restored. This means the CC election voting portal is currently paused, however the team is actively working to bring the platform back online as quickly as possible. No votes have been lost. All voting data remains safe and secure. We'll share another update as soon as the platform is fully operational. Thank you for your patience.

As many in the community will know, EMURGO has recently been focused on managing the SecondFi incident. As a result, EMURGO has informed us that it is unable to allocate the necessary resources to plan and execute Token2049. Intersect has received and reviewed a request from EMURGO to transfer delivery responsibility for Token2049 to the Cardano Foundation. Following discussions between EMURGO, the Cardano Foundation and Intersect, this transfer has now been mutually agreed and accepted. In our role as administrator, Intersect’s priority is to support delivery of what was approved by DReps and outlined in the governance action metadata. Given the timing of the event, the need to act pragmatically, and the importance of avoiding unnecessary delivery uncertainty, we believe this is the right course of action. The Cardano Foundation has agreed to deliver Token2049 in line with the approved scope. Both @emurgo_io and Intersect regard @Cardano_CF as a reputable and capable ecosystem partner with a strong track record of delivering major events to the expected standard. Delivery of Token2049 is now transitioning to the Cardano Foundation and we look forward to seeing Token2049 delivered in October.

@ThomasNordicADA And you even left out the part where 1/3 of the Norwegian population moved to England 2.0 (the newer and better version) for the explicit purpose of starting a professional team in the better version of Football!

Apparently Norway and England are enemies for the rest of today, so here's a quick history lesson. 793: Norwegians arrive at Lindisfarne. England immediately regrets opening for visitors. 1013: Vikings end up ruling England. Awkward. 1981: Norway beat England 2–1. Bjørge Lillelien delivers the immortal: "Maggie Thatcher... your boys took a hell of a beating." 1993: Norway beat England again, because one traumatic childhood memory clearly wasn't enough. 2002: Viking FK knocked Chelsea out of Europe. The clue was literally in the club name. 2026: Here we are again. I'm not saying history repeats itself. I'm just saying England has had over 1,200 years to figure out that letting Norwegians turn up usually ends badly.

Remembering Professor Steven Lupien, Chairman of the Intersect Board, and his legacy We are deeply saddened by the passing of Steven Charles Lupien, Chairman of the Intersect MBO Board of Directors. Following Steven’s funeral on Friday, and out of respect for his family and those closest to him, we would now like to take a moment to recognize his life, his contribution to Intersect, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind. Steven was a professor and the founder and director of the University of Wyoming’s Center for Blockchain & Digital Innovation. He served on the Intersect Board from the organization’s founding and provided invaluable leadership throughout his tenure. Steven brought more than 35 years of leadership experience across marketing, product development, finance, and emerging technology. He held senior executive roles at organizations including Five Star Products, Land O’ Lakes Specialty Foods, Bigelow Tea, and AT&T. Under his leadership, Five Star Products became an early adopter of blockchain technology for the secure and immutable storage of nuclear facility records. He also pioneered BeefChain, a blockchain-based system designed to connect ranchers more directly with markets and consumers, improve supply-chain traceability, and give producers greater control over the value of their cattle. After moving to Wyoming, Steven became a leading advocate for blockchain innovation, working with state policymakers to help establish Wyoming as a global center for digital assets and blockchain technology. At the University of Wyoming, he founded the Center for Blockchain & Digital Innovation, served as an endowed faculty member, and launched the university’s interdisciplinary minor in blockchain technology. He was also a prolific fundraiser, educator, author, and mentor, co-authoring Blockchain Fundamentals for Web 3.0 and helping to expand technology education throughout Wyoming. You can read Steven’s official obituary here ➡️ legacy.com/us/obituaries/… Steven at Intersect Steven had a profound impact on Intersect during a formative period in the organization’s development. He drew on decades of executive and governance experience to mentor his fellow Board members, helping them better understand the responsibilities of their positions and the standards of care, judgment, and accountability expected of organizational leaders. He also played an important role in structuring Intersect’s business operations so that the organization could serve the Cardano community effectively, sustainably, and with the professionalism required of a global, member-based organization. Steven helped shape Intersect’s processes for identifying and selecting executive leadership, while emphasizing that strong recruitment must be matched by thoughtful onboarding, training, and continued support. His colleagues remember him as someone they could turn to for candid advice, practical guidance, and a broader perspective when difficult decisions had to be made. Even during serious or challenging discussions, Steven was often quick with a joke that lightened the mood, strengthened relationships, and helped the Board keep its conversations constructive and productive. Steven will be deeply missed by his fellow Board members, the Intersect staff, and the many people across the blockchain industry who had the privilege of working with him. His wisdom, generosity, humor, and steady presence left a lasting impression on everyone around him. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his beloved partner, Caitlin; his daughter, Abigail; all of his family members mourning his loss; and his colleagues and students at the University of Wyoming, whose lives were enriched by his leadership, mentorship, and friendship.

Steve was a thoughtful leader and a generous colleague who never hesitated to share his experience. What I remember most is that even with everything on his plate, he made time to connect. We shared a love of teaching and he would check in about my classes and how the semester was going. When I was building my blockchain course he shared what he had done in his own class and insights from his book on blockchain fundamentals, simply as a colleague who wanted to help. That meant a great deal to me. I'm grateful to have served alongside him and I'll miss both his leadership and his friendship. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.

I should be more generous to the OP and say it “becomes an excuse” instead of imparting motives from just one post and not assume any motive to the research.

What disgusts me about this framing is that is just an excuse to censor and cripple AI systems. It’s about the bombs, everyone. The reason you’re not allowed to have the same access to information analysis and computation as BigCorp is because of scary men with bombs… 🙄
Antonia Juelich@AntoniaJuelich

In a hotel room in northeast Nigeria, I opened a leading AI chatbot, turned my laptop toward a former Boko Haram commander, and asked if he'd used it. He nodded. "You type in the question… like 'How can I build a bomb?', and then it tells you how. It is like a human robot. We used it a lot." My new study on how the jihadist terrorist group Boko Haram uses frontier AI with @CamAISciPolicy, covered today in @nytimes 🧵/9

@CashAnvil They’re actually is another social model for keeping people around and doing things and that is group affinity. But when people stop feeling like the group values then and all they get is vitriol and hatred directed at them, they’re not likely to stay either.

I gotta say. It’s really this simple. If you don’t pay people they will go somewhere else. Hobbyists and enthusiasts can only take things so far. If governance hasn’t proven that already our token price action should. It’s time to wake up and pay the people you want to stay here. And yes, that means diversifying the spend and sending large amounts of ADA to professional teams. This doesn’t mean blind spending. Being responsible and negotiating the best deal/terms should always remain the thought of DReps. If done right, we shouldn’t have to keep spending like this year after year. Ultimately, teams also need to invest in the treasury that got them funded. No more grants. We need loans and equity. If it’s truly a public good, it should fall under the most scrutiny humanly possible, not the least. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. The time for radical action is now.

Hi, I'm their lawyer. It will be a cold day in Hell before my client pays that fine. Ofcom won't be collecting it unless they're prepared to land ground troops in America, overthrow our government, and rescind our constitutional order by force. Hope that helps!
