Damien Williams wasn’t even that good and he still gave us multiple home runs like this. Tell me again how adding this back to the offense isn’t going to make a difference

In 2023, I never stopped bringing up how awful the Chiefs WR room was going to be. They led the league in drops, they still won the SB because Mahomes willed them there offensively and their defense was 2nd in sacks thanks to Chris Jones/George Karlaftis both had double digit sacks. In 2024, I pounded the table to up their LT and edge rush position to help take pressure off Mahomes. They didn’t, he still willed them to the Super Bowl where they got obliterated in large part to those two very real issues they dealt with all season. I’m sick and tired of seeing Patrick Mahomes have to will this team deep into the playoffs. As much as we don’t want to face and accept it, the Chiefs only have so many seasons to capitalize on his greatness and he’s at least halfway through his career. They already wasted his rookie season by not playing him in 2017 and his 9th season in 2025. They cannot waste another. Or else people at powerful positions have to be replaced.

From a player acquisition standpoint Veach is having a home run of a draft, I just don’t love the idea of basically giving the middle finger to your franchise QB coming off an ACL tear

@GlydeKingdom Eh, I disagree. He was also given Walker. He has an above average WR/TE cast and a great OL. I agree that I’d like to see him with a top WR but he’s gonna be great this season and with extra possessions, he might just fuck around and win MVP as well as comeback player.

@AdamSchwinn In a way yes. His job has been way harder than it has to be and I know you see that, that’s not entirely fixed on defense lol. You’re painting quite the extreme where I could project the same spending the picks on offense to be unstoppable.

I mean give Mahomes some help though. So many WR available. Or am I just being an armchair GM and Veach is a genius for having bad WRs

I couldn’t be happier about the way the draft is happening for KC. Sure I had some wants, like Ponds of Indiana and I really like E. Johnson of Nebraska (RB). But Veach is cooking and I’m looking forward to the season! I’ll just trust him. Let’s go #ChiefsKingdom

The Chiefs had Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson and had one of the worst 3rd down defenses in the NFL. So many Chiefs fans have become so accustomed to having mediocre/bad edge rushers that they think filling other areas on defense that were filled in previous season will change things.
