Delighted to remain as Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury and to be appointed as the Growth Minister - working across @hmtreasury and @cabinetofficeuk. Higher economic growth, spread more evenly across the country, is the route to higher prosperity for everyone. Building on the progress that has been made over the last two years, I'll be working at the centre of government helping to bring about the economic change that the PM and Chancellor know this country needs. Growth is about people's lives, it's about the places we love, it supports the public finances and it secures our place in the world. It's the foundation of everything else we want to do as a Labour party in government and we need more of it everywhere. As the PM said on Monday - taking power out of Westminster, stronger control over the essentials, and undoing the wrong turns made in decades past are all essential for building a new economy. Let's do it!

The Friends had a successful Tower Open Day last Saturday 11th - despite the very hot weather (a change from some previous events) many people attended and approximately £450 was raised for the upkeep of the tower and gardens. Thanks to everyone who made it possible!

Keir Starmer’s place in history is assured. We owe Keir a debt of gratitude for taking Labour from its worst electoral defeat in 2019, bringing Labour back into government with a huge majority in 2024 and then guiding Britain through difficult times nationally and globally.

This is possibly the saddest thing I've seen in a long time..an immigrant nurse talking about fleeing her home..she saved her UNIFORM. So she could still WORK for our communities. I'd fill this country with a thousand of this woman than one of those good for nothing thugs. God help this poor woman.

EXCL: The Green Party has received a damning audit of its workplace culture and pay to staff by Unite the Union. A staff survey found that 47 per cent of workers for the party are struggling financially and 46 per cent believe they are underpaid. Among the workers, 30 per cent were unsure whether they wanted to stay in their job, while 14 per cent intended to leave. Unite also warns that ‘salaries remain considerably below market rates for comparable roles in the campaigning and political sectors’.
