After the attacks on Aleppo's Kurdish neighborhoods, reports of serious crimes against civilians are increasing. Thousands of Kurds have gone missing since January, while local sources report a mass grave containing more than 270 bodies near Ashrafiyah. english.anf-news.com/features/mass-…

@Hevallo Free Rojava & Rojhelat!
@DavidLammy Is it just a coincidence that despite the same situation existing for over 40 years vis a vis the Kurdish community in the UK that 6 Kurds are snatched & put on trial as UK signs a multi billion pound arms deal with Turkey?

Newroz Pîroz Be! Across Kurdistan and the diaspora, hundreds of thousands are coming together to celebrate Newroz. Newroz is a central part of Kurdish national identity, carrying the memory of resilience, the defence of dignity and the enduring aspiration for peace. This year’s celebrations come at a moment of profound geopolitical changes, bringing with them both new possibilities and serious risks for the Kurdish people. Europe was ultimately able to develop a political framework for coexistence after centuries of sectarian and inter-state conflict, beginning with the Westphalian settlement. Yet across the Middle East, many of these dynamics continue in different forms, producing recurring instability, fragmentation and violence. The Kurdish people have too often been among the principal victims of this unresolved regional disorder. For that reason, we attach serious value to efforts aimed at democratic integration, peace and the development of a democracy as the only sustainable basis for long-term regional stability and coexistence. At the same time, we are fully aware that influential international actors can play a constructive and valuable role in supporting the resolution of the Kurdish question across the region and in encouraging peaceful, inclusive and durable outcomes between Kurdish communities and the states of the region. In this context, we remain open to all forms of meaningful dialogue, principled engagement and practical cooperation that can contribute to peace, democratic inclusion and a just political settlement. From this perspective, we extend our Newroz greetings to the people of Kurdistan, especially to women and young people and express our sincere hope for a future defined by peace, dignity and prosperity. Yesterday’s Newroz reception in Hackney was a powerful reflection of the longstanding presence, resilience and contribution of the Kurdish community in London. We were honoured to organise this special evening with the support of Hackney Council @hackneycouncil and to welcome guests from across political, civic and community life. We extend our sincere thanks to Caroline Woodley @carowoodley for her warm remarks and for recognising the importance of ensuring that everyone, including the Kurdish community, feels safe, respected and at home in Hackney. Aladdin Siyanic from Kurdish Institute London spoke movingly of his memories of the 1992 Newroz in Nisêbîn, when many innocent Kurdish civilians lost their lives under state repression and ended with a call for peace and a better future. We also thank MP Feryal Clark @FeryalClark for joining the reception, for describing Newroz as a symbol of resistance, and for delivering a heartfelt speech in which she reflected on her family’s experience as immigrants and remembered Hackney as their first home in the United Kingdom, a personal story that deeply resonated with the spirit of the evening. The evening was a meaningful reminder that Newroz is far more than a celebration. As many speakers underlined, it is a living expression of freedom, dignity, solidarity and collective memory. For the Kurdish people, Newroz has long carried the spirit of resistance against oppression, while also affirming hope, unity and renewal. Remarks made on behalf of the Metropolitan Police @metpoliceuk also acknowledged the important role of Kurdish-owned businesses in bringing colour, vitality and life to Hackney. This was a valuable recognition of the contribution Kurdish people have made over many years to the social, cultural and economic life of the borough. Hackney has been home to a vibrant Kurdish community for decades. Over many years, Kurdish people have contributed to the social, cultural and economic life of the borough, while also building strong relationships grounded in mutual respect, democratic values and shared public life. As the Centre for Kurdish Affairs, we remain committed to strengthening dialogue, cooperation and engagement between Kurdish communities and British political, civic and institutional life. Evenings like this show what is possible when that relationship continues to grow. London, 21 March 2026 Centre for Kurdish Affairs

Yesterday’s Newroz reception at Enfield Civic Centre was a meaningful celebration of culture, community and partnership. It offered an important opportunity to mark Newroz in a civic setting and to reflect on the contribution of the Kurdish community to the social and cultural life of Enfield. We were honoured to co-organise this special evening with Enfield Council @EnfieldCouncil and we extend our sincere thanks to all those who attended from across civic, community and public life. Events such as this demonstrate the value of bringing communities and local institutions together in a spirit of mutual respect, recognition and shared democratic values. We would like to express our appreciation to Ergin Erbil @ErginErbil , Leader of Enfield Council, for opening the reception and for his thoughtful remarks on the meaning of Newroz. His recognition of Newroz as a moment to celebrate identity, culture and community was both timely and deeply valued. We also thank MP Feryal Clark @FeryalClark for her message marking the significance of Newroz as a symbol of freedom, dignity and resilience. As Kurdish people in Britain continue to make valued contributions to public life, we believe these relationships should continue to grow through mutual respect, civic engagement and cultural understanding. As the Centre for Kurdish Affairs, we remain committed to supporting that engagement and to building stronger partnerships for the future. London, 20 March 2026 Centre for Kurdish Affairs

Yesterday's Newroz reception in Haringey was a meaningful and timely reminder of what can be achieved when Kurdish communities and British institutions come together in a spirit of respect, partnership and shared democratic values. We were honoured to co-host this special evening with @haringeycouncil and we extend our sincere thanks to all those who joined us from across community and civic life. We would like to thank Mayor Ahmed Mahbub @AhmedWHL for opening the reception and for recognising Newroz as a symbol of freedom, democracy and dignity. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Peray Ahmet @perayahmet , Leader of Haringey Council, for her continued support and for the respect she has consistently shown to the Kurdish community. This evening reflected the longstanding friendship between Haringey and its Kurdish community, a relationship built over many years on trust, solidarity and shared democratic values. We also thank Councillor Makbule Gunes @GunesMakbule, Councillor Ajda Ovat @ajdao, MP Feryal Clark @FeryalClark, Deputy Mayor of London @JoanneMcCartney for standing with the Kurdish community on this important occasion. We were equally honoured by the video messages of The Right Honourable David Lammy @DavidLammy, Deputy Prime Minister and Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice; Kate Osamor @KateOsamor MP for Edmonton and Winchmore Hill; Bambos Charalambous @BambosMP MP for Southgate and Wood Green; and Tulip Siddiq @TulipSiddiq MP for Hampstead and Highgate. Their messages of solidarity added further significance to the evening. Speaking on behalf of the Centre for Kurdish Affairs, Hamit Ekinci @h_ekinci1 spoke of Newroz not only as a celebration, but as a living expression of freedom, equality, peace and collective memory. He paid tribute to the women and men who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for freedom, stressed the importance of Kurdish national unity and said that Kurdish hearts today beat for Rojava, Rojhilat, Bakur and Başur. His remarks reflected the Centre’s commitment to dialogue, cooperation, integration, democratic peace and to building stronger engagement between Kurdish communities and British political, civic and institutional life. The evening also featured speeches by representatives of the Kurdish People’s Assembly @KurdsinUK and other communities, reflecting the broad solidarity and shared spirit of the occasion. The evening concluded with a concert by Suna Alan, followed by dancing from guests and participants. Britain has served as a place of refuge for Kurdish people who fled war in the hope of protecting the lives of their children. British people and other immigrant communities welcomed members of the Kurdish community, shared their experiences with the and helped them grow stronger. Today, British Kurds are an established and valued part of the UK’s social, cultural and economic fabric. For that reason, we believe the relationship between Kurdish communities and British institutions should continue to deepen in the years ahead. Through dialogue, mutual respect and practical cooperation, we can build an even stronger partnership for the future. As the Centre for Kurdish Affairs, we are ready to play our part in building that future together. London, 18 March 2026 Centre for Kurdish Affairs
