Look y’all we need to talk about last night’s #PresidentialDebate. Yes Trump had a bad night — and Biden had a worse night perfomatively. POTUS needs a course correct and a timely long unscripted interview to show what we who’ve seen the President up close over these past months already know: this was a one-off bad debate — as Presidents Obama and Reagan both had with their first re-elect debates — not an ongoing condition. The stakes of losing our rights and freedoms are too high to leave to chance or spin. I’ve served as a DNC Member since 1996 and can tell you that people who thought Barack Obama should quit for Hillary Clinton (2010), Barack Obama failed his first debate (2012), Hillary Clinton was overprepared (2016) Nancy Pelosi was too old to be Speaker (2018) Joe Biden was unable to beat Donald Trump (2020) John Fetterman’s stroke DQ’ed him (2022) have given us decades of warnings — but never a replacement. President Biden has a stutter and a cold — both were on display last night and neither disqualify him or justify cancelling the millions of votes he earned in the primary. Full stop. The undecided voters swinging to Biden after the debate obviously saw more value in Joe than the ableists did — and more danger in Trump than people more accustomed to 45’s lies and extremism. So don’t agonize - organize! Channel your nerves into the work we need to win the election and save our rights and our Democracy.

3 years ago this week, John Eastman posted an unfounded birther attack on 2020 VP nominee Kamala Harris, who WON the 2010 California AG race he LOST. Today, John Eastman is suspending his CA disbarment hearing to turn himself in on GA felony charges. ☕️

This bill and these comments are an insult to every single staffer, former, present or future, who devote their lives to public service. These remarks come from a person who does not understand the building and refuses to see she is seeking to eliminate opportunities.

Capitol staffers make recos. They don’t directly regulate entities. As Members, we make the final decisions. This makes their profession unique to other state workers. We need to address the staff exodus by showing we value them, not by restricting their career options.
