First you have a coach that built a program into a playoff team, and left them before the playoff run. Then you have a team just left out of the playoffs and refuse to play in any bowl. College Football as we knew it and loved it is dead. It's no longer pride, traditions, and pageantry. It's money. It's purely money. It's only money.

I think I finally have accepted just how much things have changed. College football used to be a slow burn, filled with legacy, loyalty, development. Rivalry week meant something primal. Coaches were around long enough for players to grow into their stories. And I used to believe that a player with grit and heart could outrun the five-stars and outwork the bankrolls. But today, it’s just a different ecosystem. Transactional. The sport I fell in love with is now an arms race built on NIL dollars, transfer-portal urgency, and year-to-year roster volatility. The culture can be bought, chemistry can be rented, and patience is bankrupt. And yet, here I am, still showing up, still believing something magic can happen on a fourth-quarter drive. Am I crazy for still having hope? For being loyal to a sport that isn’t always loyal back. That’s the paradox of modern college football. I guess that’s the saddest part, realizing the game didn’t lose its soul overnight. But it has evolved past the version I fell in love with.
