279848 Absent, 21 Lives Lost: NEET turns catastrophic How Many More Before the NTA is Scrapped? Students’ Federation of India demands an immediate action to scrap National Testing Agency that lacks credibility and integrity, with regard to the recent NEET-UG re-exam. The contradictory statements that NTA give out in terms of the number of candidates who appeared for the examination is highly questionable. The incompetence on the part of NTA has pushed a large mass of students and their families into trauma, where around 21 students have committed suicide crushed by the burden. Following the cancellation of NEET-UG exam held on 3rd May, a re-examination, as assured by NTA was conducted on June 21st. In their official statement after the re-examination, the NTA has declared that “more than 20 lakhs” students appeared for the exam across the country. SFI raised the concern of mass absent at various centres throughout the country immediately and demanded that the NTA released the attendance details of the candidates who appeared. However, as the NEET result was declared on July 16th, the NTA statement mentions that “a total of close to 20 lakh candidates appeared for NEET UG 2026 at 5440 centres in 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad”. A total number of 22,79,743 candidates registered for the NEET-UG exam, out of which initially a total number of 22,05,035 candidates appeared for the exam on May 3rd. After the result was declared, the data shows that only 19,99,895 students have appeared for the re-exam, showing an exact number of 2,79,848 students who did not attend the exam. This number exposes the systemic exclusion of students from higher education, where the NTA and the Union Government have been deliberately engaged in streamlining the access to higher education in favour of the commercial, corporate and communal nexus. An agency like NTA that fails to even provide credible data is incapable of conducting examinations. Students’ lives matter and NTA can no longer play with the future of lakhs of students aspiring for quality education. Scrap NTA and Dharmendra Pradhan must take the accountability and resign from the post of Union Education Minister. SFI sees this trivializing approach of NTA as a mere stunt to conceal their failure and help the Union Government evade accountability. Condemning this we will strongly raise these issues and organise students across the nation to demand justice and accountability.

Why do you fear SFI, Mr. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ? Why do you fear the revolutionary legacy of Che Guevara? Why do you fear the cultural voice of Zubeen Garg? Why do you fear the power of art? It is your deep-seated fear of democratic dissent that drives you to make such reckless statements, Mr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Let it be absolutely clear Even if you impose the National Security Act (NSA), we will not yield. We will not back down. Our struggle is for the very future of India and the progress of Assam, and it cannot be silenced by state repression. It is deeply ironic that while your administration tries to criminalize students fighting for public education, your narrative allows space to celebrate separatist elements like Paresh Baruah a leader who led an armed struggle for Assam’s secession from India for decades. The walls of Assam will continue to uphold the revolutionary and progressive legacies of Bhagat Singh, Che Guevara, and Zubeen Garg. If you choose to invoke the NSA against us simply because we are protesting the suspension of postgraduate admissions at the historic Cotton University a direct consequence of your government starving public institutions of funding we will embrace those chains gracefully. When your administration has systematically shut down nearly 12,000 government schools over the last decade, SFI's resistance to save public education and protect every government college and university in Assam becomes a historical necessity. You can imprison SFI activists, but you can never chain the ideals of Freedom, Democracy, and Socialism. SFI vehemently condemns the anti-student statements made by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The struggle to protect public education will march on! @BJP4India @BJP4Assam @himantabiswa @AP @PTI_News @ANI @the_hindu @timesofindia @IndianExpress @htTweets

SFI Central Executive Committee is condemning the police brutality. Students are protesting for their future. NTA has now turned into the National Torturing Agency. It does not have the capacity to conduct even a single exam. This was very evident in the recent NET and NEET exams.

The suspension of SFI Delhi State Committee’s official Instagram account is yet another attempt to silence a student movement that has consistently raised its voice against the ongoing crisis in education. From exposing examination irregularities and the commercialization of education to opposing policies that weaken public education and democratic institutions, SFI has never hesitated to question those in power. Silencing one social media account will not silence the struggles of students. We will meet these attacks not with silence, but with greater organization, stronger resistance, and an even louder voice in campuses and on the streets.

Nearly 40% of the sanctioned teaching posts in Madhya Pradesh are lying vacant. Thousands of school structures are either dilapidated or non-functioning. The state has the duty to fill all sanctioned posts to ensure that every child receives quality education. Instead of a "double engine sarkar", Madhya Pradesh has a "double failure sarkar". @BJP4MP

From Endless Spelling Blunders to Massive Number of Repeated Questions: UGC-NET 2026 Exposes NTA's Continuing Collapse. These incidents are not isolated mistakes but part of a continuing pattern of administrative failure under the NTA. From repeated paper leaks and technical glitches to arbitrary cancellations and poorly designed examinations, the agency has consistently failed to uphold the confidence of students and the standards of public examinations. #ScrapNTA #NETExam

The gross irregularities that have marred the UGC-NET June 2026 examination, once again exposing the National Testing Agency's (NTA) complete inability to conduct fair, transparent, and credible examinations.

Odisha's school textbooks contain 1,678 errors, and the crooked examination machinery has failed once again with the TET paper leak in Maharashtra. The incompetency and ignorance of the BJP-led double-engine governments have been exposed once again.

The Maharashtra State Council of Examination has postponed TET scheduled for June 28 following serious paper-leak charges. BJP: Bharatiya Leak Party — where question papers find their way out long before students find their way in.

We strongly condemns @dpradhanbjp disgraceful and insensitive remarks branding protesting students as the terrorists. At a time when millions of students and their families are suffering due to repeated examination irregularities, paper leaks, and administrative failures.

Several centres across the country reported an unjustified gap between the candidates who applied for the NEET exam and the candidates who appeared. The low turnout of candidates at different Re-NEET centres further exposes the exclusionary character of NTA. #Neet #ScrapNTA

Is it not allowed to protest against the BJP's Union Gov in Congress-ruled states? As the Tamil Nadu LoP @Udhaystalin remarked,"The reason BJP is ruling the country is not because of Modi or Amit Shah; it is because of the Congress and their lack of a clear stance." @RahulGandhi

The FIFA World Cup is the world’s biggest sporting event, but India’s football fans are being sidelined. There’s still no confirmed broadcaster for the 2026 World Cup in India. SFI has sent a formal demand to the Sports Ministry and I&B Ministry today. #FIFAWorldCup2026 #India
