As an Orthodox rabbi, I will never begin an article with the words "As an Orthodox rabbi".

@fleur_de_irk Yeah. My point here is that in the West everyone seems terrified of sharia, but in Israel it's a longstanding part of the judicial and religious establishment

@Adderabbi That, too. I have no problem with them judging civil cases if both parties prefer it. If I am not mistaken this right was taken from them some 20 years ago and is now returned

Israel just passed a law that explicitly allows its duly constituted, state-funded sharia courts to function as arbitrators in civil cases. [Sits back. Watches heads explode.]

@fleur_de_irk The rabbinical courts have little patience for lawyering. So it ends up being cheaper and often less acrimonious

@Adderabbi Fun fact: many women prefer their divorce settlements to be heard in rabbinical court. Apparently, these courts are more favorable to them than secular (supposedly women-rights-oriented) courts.

@MohamoudGaildon @JohnCleese Oh, my. Look up the Almohad Caliphate. Look up the Allahdad. I'm not disputing that the Quran says what you say it does. I'm saying that, in fact, Muslims forcibly converting non-Muslims is not quite an anomaly.

‘"There is no compulsion in religion" (لاَ إِكْرَاهَ فِي الدِّينِ) is a fundamental Quranic principle from Surah Al-Baqarah (2:256).’ Just in case you’re interested, Islam doesn’t allow forcing non-Muslims to accept Islam. Nowadays, I acknowledge, there are those like ISIS who kill non-Muslims, and Muslims too by the way, just because they don’t share their Muslim faith or practice it the way the terrorists see fit. That’s not what Islam is about. Communities of faiths predating Islam have kept their faiths under Islam for many centuries.

Does this silly little man not understand that Islam is a very aggressive belief system, threatening death to anyone who does not convert to Islam The Buddhists, the Taoists, the Scottish Presbyterians, the Hindus and the Sikhs and the Confucians and the Catholics don't go around shouting about beheading people they disagree with Is this too much for your tiny little brain to take in ? Oh. The doorbell rang. The police I assume...
Gad Saad@GadSaad

Indeed. Whenever Jews are attacked (typically by Muslims), it is important to redouble our efforts to fight against Islamophobia.

@DonQuixoteOylam The only change is that: 1. State-salaried religious court judges can hear such cases; 2. It has the status of a legal verdict, not an arbitrated settlement. So not much change, but still, heads will explode.

@Adderabbi Isn't it if both sides consent? Isn't that just like a type of mediation? And it's just civil cases....so I can go to a beit din for civil cases if both sides agree? What am I missing?

this is a perfect example of how a fact isn't the same thing as truth. This picture shows Jaffa. If anyone did a zoom out, they would see that next to Jaffa was a lot of empty land. That empty land is where Tel Aviv was out. Look at the big picture, literally.
YourFavoriteGuy@guychristensen_

Tel-Aviv was not built on “empty sand dunes” Palestine was not “a land without a people” and Zio settlers did not “make the desert bloom” Had these settlers turned the camera behind them, the beautiful Palestinian city of Yaffa would sprawl before their eyes Tel-Aviv is a myth

@guychristensen_ This is a survey map of Jaffa under the Ottomans, from 1878-1879, made by Theodor Sandel, a German Templar (Protestant Christian). The area that became Tel Aviv is literally labeled "Sand Hills."

Rabbi Yaakov Menken@ymenken

You write this because you are a racist, filled with hate against Jews. Behold the founding of Tel Aviv on empty sand dunes, displacing no one. Dizengoff, who has a central square named after him, hoped the city would be a model of modern Jewish-Arab peace. Now do Jerusalem, which means something in only one language: Hebrew. It means City of Peace. When you claim these places rightly belong to someone else, QED you hate Jews, history, and the Bible.

@IsabelO20183051 The territory has been known as both Palestine and Eretz Yisrael (the Land of Israel) for thousands of years, even if no modern sovereign state went by either of those names until 1948.

@CraigMurrayOrg Speaking of pathetic, you commented on a video from Nov 2023 in which Herzog shows a book that was found in Gaza, not Lebanon. Maybe don't trust news from a parody account? But I guess clowns gonna clown
