I've had an interest only mortgage for years. In 2030 it finishes. By which time I'll be retired. I do the lottery every week hoping I can pay it off but I know in 5 years time I'll be fucked. I'll have to tell the missus soon; but not yet.

@LizKershawDJ You haven’t paid into it for years - your contributions paid for your parents and elder generation pensions, your pension will be paid for by the current tax paying generation. It’s not an entitlement, and you can choose not to claim it, saving taxpayers money.

Today I got a letter inviting me to CLAIM my State Pension from July when I turn 66 Why do I need to claim it/beg for it ? Payment should be automatic. I've paid into it for 46 years since 1st job in 1978. But it says "You will not get any State Pension unless you claim it".

I think many of us agree that the term "junior doctors" is inaccurate and demeaning, (and forget about "doctors in training" or "apprentices"). I was trying to think of a better term. I came up with "core doctors" in view of their key roles in hospitals. Any better ideas?

@SimonCalder It’s an oasis of calm before the flight and avoids the crowds in the shops. Is often cheaper than paying for outrageously priced airport food outlets too.

@Beany_1 We were invited to a wedding In Newcastle- cost for 4 of us to travel by train return was £780. A 7 hour drive was equally unappealing so we declined our invitation.

@Rylan Glad your mum is getting the help she needs. To help the NHS better, rather than pay for private treatment, please donate extra funds directly to the wards/clinics/charities. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t help waiting lists or others if you go private route.
