My cousin got invited for an interview at one bank in Delta, but the date clashed with her baecation in South Africa. This girl looked me dēãd in the eye and said “Please just go for me. We already look like twins”.
She was a he-goat for that idea but she wasn’t wrong. We did look alike 😩. When we stand together, people ask if we are twins. So I agreed after plenty begging and bribing, and we planned it down to every detail, including rehearsing her signature throughout the night till I got it perfectly.
On the D-day, I wore one aggressive curly wig and made sure to do makeup, then added glasses to complete the disguise. I even wore fake hips because my cousin has bumbum but I didn’t.
Now tell me why immediately I entered the interview office, the first person I saw sitting there was our older cousin that we call Uncle because of the age gap 💀💀💀
My soul left my body instantly.
This criminal did NOT tell me she got the interview through him.
She also forgot to mention he WORKS AT THE BANK.
This man just looked at me and my heartbeat was going GBIM! GBIM!! GBIMGBIMGBIMGBIMGBIM!!!!!!
One woman on the panel was still smiling and saying “relax, you seem nervous”.
Madam, I’ve entered hot soup, feeling nervous is the least of my problems 😭😭😭
I managed to answer the questions while avoiding eye contact with my Uncle. He too was just giving me stares like “Tare continue, I want to see where this nonsense is going”. 😭
The interview ended and I didn’t even wait to collect water and lunch. I vanished from that building with supernatural speed.
Later that evening when my Uncle called, I told him she had severe menstrual cramps, and she told him the same story too.
He never exposed us.
She got the job but left after 5 months because her boyfriend relocated her out of the country permanently.
And till today, nobody in the family knows I risked police station to attend an interview under false identity. 🙂↔️
It’s only Jehovah that has been keeping me safe from my bad decisions.

It took me 5 months and about 25 interviews to land my first job in Canada 🇨🇦 But there is one I will never forget. I applied for a Canadian government role. French was listed as a requirement. I applied anyway. Got through the first stage. No French was tested. Second and final stage. I joined the call. Bonjour bonjour. (As how?) I thought that was just the greeting. The interviewer then calmly informed me that the entire interview would be conducted in French. I could feel my intestines shift. I said okay. A certified Duolingo dropout sitting in silence. The first question came. 45 seconds of full Québécois French. I waited for them to finish. Then I slowly asked if they could repeat the question in English. They did. Politely. I answered. Then they asked if I had any questions for them. That was it. Interview over. I never got a rejection email. Not one. They were too pissed to even send it 😭 What is your craziest job interview moment in diaspora or back home?
