@TheGridPost He will never mention Discos as the problem of this particular case, Instead He is writing Epistle. He is a DISCO sympathizer. DISCOs have refused to rehabilitate, invest, reconstruct in their conductors, poles, transformers, switchgears etc.

Contrary to popular belief, nobody at the DisCo is sitting somewhere saying “rain don start, off am” 😅 From an engineering standpoint, rain itself is usually not what makes your supply dissappear. It just exposes weaknesses that already exist in our power system. It is more common in Nigeria because we rely heavily on overhead lines, maintenance is inconsistent in some areas, vegetation control is weak, and the BIGGEST OF ALL- restoration is sometimes at snail speed. Countries like the U.S., South Africa, and Canada also experience rain-related outages but their systems are generally more resilient, with faster fault isolation and quicker restoration. Here is what typically happens behind the scenes: 1. Tree contact with power lines: Most distribution lines are overhead and pass through areas with limited vegetation control. During storms, wind can push tree branches into 11kV or 33kV lines, causing short circuits or earth faults. Once detected, the system automatically trips to protect equipment. 2. Aging or weak infrastructure Transformers, insulators, jumper connections, and cable joints that work under normal dry conditions can become vulnerable when moisture increases. Rain doesn’t create the fault ), it often worsens existing weaknesses, especially on poorly maintained feeders. 3. Lightning and voltage surges Thunderstorms produce electrical surges that can destabilize the network. Protection systems isolate these faults quickly to prevent damage to transformers and substations. 4. Automatic protection systems: Substations use protective relays and circuit breakers. When abnormal current is detected, feeders trip automatically to prevent fires, equipment damage, or larger system failures.

I still don't understand the concept of power failure during rain. It seems it happens in Nigeria alone. @TheGridPost care to explain?

In the past one hour, there has been unconfirmed reports of bandits spotted in Ikirun and Oyan in Ọ̀ṣun State. This development has created panic in the minds of people in Òṣogbo and its environs. Parents have been rushing to pick up the children in their respective schools. In the attached video, parents were seen waiting for their children at the gate of Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Stadium Area, Òṣogbo. We call on @officialABAT @NigeriaGov @Osun_State_Gov, @AAdeleke_01, @PoliceNG, and other relevant stakeholders to intervene swiftly before it escalates to something uncontrollable. #InsideOsogbo

I am not an expert in power, but this is my understanding. I would like to know whether power experts agree or disagree. This is my summary 1. Nigeria needs massive investment in power infrastructure 2. Nigeria and Nigerians can't fund this investment because it's in USD; turbines and natural gas 3. To attract investment in Nigerian power, the tariffs paid by the Nigerian consumers have to go up. 4. Nigerian consumers can't afford higher power tariffs. 5. In other nations, the government will subsidize the power cost via subsidies, so that consumers can pay lower today but higher tomorrow as they boost consumption and investment due to power availability. 6. Nigeria also subsidized power to consumers via the Multi-Year Tariff Order MYTO); however, as the MYTO is winding down, the consumers' incomes have fallen, thus it's very hard to raise power tariffs 7. If tariffs don't rise, investors or $ won't come 8. If investors don't come, power generation and distribution will not improve, meaning fewer users of grid power and a higher average power cost. 9. The critical issue is the cost of power paid by consumers, and thus tariffs guardian.ng/news/rising-en…

VIDEO: ISWAP Buries 30 Fighters After Devastating NAF Airstrikes in Borno By: Zagazola Makama Fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have reportedly buried about 30 of their members following devastating airstrikes by the Nigerian military in parts of northern Borno state. Credible military sources told Zagazola Makama that the terrorists conducted burial rites in the Mallam Fatori axis after a series of precision air interdiction missions carried out by the Nigerian military under Operation HADIN KAI. The sources said the strikes were executed after intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) reports confirmed the movement of ISWAP fighters along waterways around the Kaniram Island area. An ISR platform had earlier observed a large number of boats estimated at over 30 positioned along the riverbank, with associated human activity indicating the presence of terrorists coordinating logistics and movement. Following positive identification, air assets conducted multiple precision strikes on the targets. “The initial strike disrupted and destroyed several of the boats used by the terrorists for transportation and logistics,” a source said. Subsequent strikes targeted fleeing and regrouping elements within nearby vegetation, leading to further neutralisation of fighters. According to Battle Damage Assessment (BDA), more than 30 terrorists were killed across the engagements, while several others were seen escaping into adjoining hideouts. Further intelligence, including post-strike imagery and intercepted visuals, later confirmed that ISWAP members conducted mass burial rites for those killed during the operation in the Mallam Fatori axis. “The burial activities observed serve as clear confirmation of the scale of losses inflicted on the terrorist group,” the source added. In a related development, additional strikes were carried out at nearby locations, including Sowolwolo, where a separate group of terrorists was engaged and eliminated. Military authorities noted that the sustained air operations have significantly degraded the operational capability of ISWAP elements in the Lake Chad region, particularly their mobility and ability to coordinate attacks. The Nigerian military reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorist groups and consolidating gains recorded in ongoing operations aimed at restoring peace and stability in the North East. @DHQNigeria

Before Oyetola constructed the Kelebe-Iragbiji road(2020), a plot of land was sold for 400k. Immediately the road was approved in 2021, the price jumped from 400k to One million naira. Now that the road has finally been constructed, the price has gone further from 1m to 6m (2021-2024). Right now, in 2026, i don’t know this year current price. So, who is truly anti-people, the government or the people themselves?
Akin Akinwale@mrlurvy

Government will use taxpayers money to rehabilitate and construct new roads, landlords within the area will increase rent. Landlord, na you do the road?

@OpeBee That we dont have enough capacity to evacuate what Kainji Is Generating is a big lie. Kindly do your findings. Presently Kainji is Generating between 400 to 500MW plus what they are supplying to Niger and they have 2 transmission lines to Jebba that are about 750MW capacity each.

“Why does Nigeria supply Togo , Benin and Niger 🇳🇪 electricity when we don’t have enough for domestic use”? Nigeria entered into this agreement long ago with these countries to supply electricity so they don’t restrict the flow of water into our dams. The water( River Niger) that flows in the Kainji dam originates from Guinea and flows through Benin( Togo being a border area with Benin) and Niger 🇳🇪. Secondly, we don’t have enough transmission capacity from Kainji Dam to evacuate all the electricity generated to the National grid. To prevent the grid from collapsing and to honour long standing treaties with these countries since they also kept their word by not restricting flow of River Niger, we are morally obligated to supply the electricity that would have hitherto been wasted.
