The whole world needs to tell Trump to fuck off and stop treating Cuba like a political punching bag. Decades of sanctions, isolation, and economic strangulation have done nothing except hurt ordinary Cuban people. Enough is enough. Countries around the world should be sending food, medicine, infrastructure support, and investment to Cuba instead of standing by while the U.S. tries to squeeze an entire nation into submission. Collective punishment is not “freedom.” It’s cruelty. The Cuban people deserve dignity, stability, and the right to determine their own future without Washington acting like it owns the hemisphere.

I love Alberta. I grew up here. Built my life here. Watched my siblings raise their children here. My family built businesses here. My parents taught at the University of Alberta and helped shape generations of students. My grandfather was awarded the Order of Canada for his contributions to this province and played a role in keeping the Edmonton Oilersfrom leaving Edmonton. I am as Albertan as they come. But I am every bit as proud to be Canadian. So when I see people trying to convince Albertans that our future lies in separation, I reject it completely. Alberta’s strength has never come from walking away. It has come from building, contributing, fighting to be heard, and helping shape this country into something better. I will spend every ounce of energy I have defending federalism, defending Canada, and keeping this beautiful province exactly where it belongs: in Canada.

North America should be a warning to the rest of the world. Last weekend I took a German film crew through the realities of the fentanyl crisis for a documentary. I was told Germany isn’t too worried about fentanyl. I told them that’s dangerously naive. No country is immune to a poisoned drug supply anymore. Germany already has strong harm reduction services, but when fentanyl fully takes hold there, they’ll also need to massively scale up recovery and treatment services. North America learned this lesson the hard way.
