For me, I would still prefer Amaechi, who showed courage by going into the primaries under the ADC alongside Atiku. Even though he rejected the outcome due to the irregularities that occurred, he at least stepped into the ring and fought. In contrast, I choose him over Peter Obi, who lacked the courage or boldness to contest any primaries with anyone. Instead, he was simply handed the presidential ticket on a platter of gold in the NDC. Peter Obi is not someone worth emulating. He comes across as too childish and always prefers to have things served to him easily rather than fighting for them.

I don’t want to believe that the Southeast is deliberately fielding a dullard like Peter Obi for the Presidency as some form of revenge for the civil war. I’ve been in Enugu for the past 2 days, engaging with some of the brightest and most innovative minds from the Southeast, and I must say I am genuinely amazed. The region is blessed with incredible talent, intelligence, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit. Which is why it is surprising to see many people rallying behind someone like Peter Obi for the Presidency. With the depth of capacity and excellence the Southeast possesses, you would expect a far stronger candidate to be presented for Nigeria’s highest office.

According to Abati, the implication is that opposition parties would now have to secure more votes than the figures already recorded for Tinubu within his own party.
