@RutgersAltRoute Students involved in bullying need to know that they can go to a trusted adult for help. Fostering positive relationships with students/parents help them know that they will get the support they need. Have a clear school wide policy on bullying. #TeacherEd #SafeSchools

Students can bully others, they can be bullied, or they may witness bullying. For our final question, think about the social and emotional needs of those involved in bullying #TeacherEd #SafeSchools

@RutgersAltRoute Harassment, bullying and intimidation needs to be carefully and thoroughly investigated. Addressing student and or parent concerns immediately is a must. Do not brush any comments or concerns aside when students tell you. Use prevention strategies. #TeacherEd #SafeSchools

@RutgersAltRoute I send out monthly newsletters on what is happening in the classroom and any updates. In the beginning of the year parents are informed of our classroom rules. We come up with the rules as a class and students sign the document. Administration helps. #TeacherEd #SafeSchools

During last Saturday's #EdTech chat, it was noted that technology can foster collaboration. For Question 3, share your practices (high-tech and low-tech) for collaborating with families and colleagues to create a safe learning environment for all students #TeacherEd #SafeSchools

@RutgersAltRoute A2 Steps include having a clear classroom management plan that the students know and practice daily. Having clear, set boundaries on what is appropriate behavior and what is not can help minimize bullying. Create an environment where all voices are heard. #TeacherEd #SafeSchools

@RutgersAltRoute A1: Current practices include teaching about bullying (SEL lessons), prevention practices (classroom management) and addressing any conflicts that arise between students immediately. Conducting a thorough investigation is a must.

@RutgersAltRoute Q5: I use Classroom Dojo(2nd grade). This app allows me to send updates to families and individual messages back and forth. Parents are given alerts for when they earn or get points taken away for behaviors. It is an all-encompassing app. #TeacherEd #EdTech

@RutgersAltRoute A4:Technology is a daily must for me! From lesson planning to storing materials in Google Drive and beyond! For students, I am mindful of how much they engage on their Chromebooks (2nd Grade) and will still use pen to paper activities for all subjects. Balance! #TeacherEd #EdTech

@RutgersAltRoute Some barriers include students going on apps and sites that they are not supposed to be, not following directions and overstimulation. I use Go Guardian to monitor the sites, clear step by steps, and downtime from screens whenever possible. #TeacherEd #EdTech

@RutgersAltRoute A5I like to use rubrics for assignments as it gives students the opportunity to know exactly what the expectations are and how to meet them.l give some students opportunities to re-take a test when I know they can do better with extra practice. #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset

@RutgersAltRoute A4Praising the effort students put forth is key. I I want to provide feedback to not praise how smart they are, but praise the effort and hard work they are putting forth. Students start to realize that hard work pays off. #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset

Framing, or how teachers introduce new concepts and tasks to students, is the focus of Q3. Framing can steer students to a fixed or growth mindset. It helps students feel free to be a work in progress as they learn. #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset
