This should be democratically so obvious but sadly decades of kumbaya liberal corruption have turned it into a revelation of profound consequence, ignored at our continued peril.
Miriam Cates@miriam_cates
Democracy works when there is a shared sense of national identity, and each voter votes independently for what they think is best for the country. Once large numbers of voters cast votes in blocs on the basis of community or religious identity, elections become an ethnic competition, rather than a competition of ideas.

@SaulStaniforth @nadhimzahawi I wonder if @nadhimzahawi has played @Nigel_Farage for a fool? Stage a defection to @reformparty_uk, create instability in the party that becomes sufficient to ensure failure at the next general election. Just a thought. Nothing would surprise me in politics.

"Nadhim Zahawi, a few years ago you tweeted: 'I'm not British born Mr Nigel Farage, I'm as British you are. Your comments are offensive and racist. I would be frightened to live in a country run by you'"

It's 1st December and time for my annual reminder that Aled Jones did not sing *Walking In The Air* in the 1982 film *The Snowman.* The treble soloist in the film was Peter Auty - at that time a chorister at St. Paul's Cathedral.

This so true and he’s not even included the destruction of deep peat carbon sink that the ones in Shetland are built on! As well as the 1000+ diesel vehicles running all day for 4 years to erect them, oh and don’t forget the huge amount of concrete and roads built to support them

@ForeverScept You can disagree politically and still get along personally. Friendship across divides is not betrayal. Civility need not weaken conviction— indeed, it can strengthens it.

@lembitopik Natural CO₂ emissions are balanced by natural absorption. Human emissions—only about 5% of the total—create an imbalance that adds extra CO₂ the Earth cannot absorb. That surplus accumulates, raising CO₂ levels and trapping heat for centuries, driving long-term climate change.

@afneil What the STUC actually say is that in recent ONS data, Scotland’s onshore and offshore wind sectors have around one direct job per £1 million of sector turnover. That is not the same as “one job per £1 million spent” in a project; it excludes many indirect and supply-chain jobs.
