What's up with Scottie? Undoubtedly the best golfer in the world but increasingly hostile to the media? He and Jordan asked the same question here (what's next for LIV players, basically). Both asked after their opening rounds at Doral. The difference in their answers...

Let’s say you had $132,000 in the bank. But you also have a $132,000 mortgage at 4.8%. Would you invest the money in the stock market or pay off the house?

@JonnyRoot_ Rory was poor yesterday...Young was amazing. Neither can be as hood ir bad as yesterday so it's going to be an amazing day with others in the mix. Rory looked tired yesterday so I hope he gets refreshed as I'd love him to do it again

This statement from Rory McIlroy after blowing a historic 6-shot lead, comes across as wildly arrogant & has a mentality of “one Masters championship is enough for me” Tiger Woods would never answer a question like this.

If I tell a driver to stop accelerating so fast, I am not telling them to stop the car And if I tell someone I want to abolish the triple lock increases on state pension, I am not telling them I want to stop the state pension I don't know how to keep explaining this to people

Pick your favourite ever shot at Augusta? Not the best or your top three, just your favourite stand-alone shot at the Masters Sandy Lyle, 1988 - the fact his previous shot was a 1-iron - the Mizuno TP-11 irons (and visor) - the natural talent - the trousers - the commentary

@dontdelay Reeves could have announced this in the Budget, when she had the slack (but didn't tell us)...I think anybody who trusts Government to look after them and won't change terms, is on a hiding to nothing. Blair, apart from Iraq has to answer for this mess too

If the government wants to increase taxes to help pay for the most vulnerable children it should be up front about that And put up higher rate tax, so that not only higher earning graduates pay for it, but higher earning non graduates (like myself) pay too It shouldn't place that cost just on graduates*, through changing the terms on a prior loan, and especially not on lower earning ones. *actually anyone with a student loan whether they graduated or not.

Govt minister concedes terms of student loans changed, without consultation, to help pay "for most vulnerable children". - "we have to make tough choices"

Currently have a $2,500,000 loan from brokerage with 5.3% interest rate. I deposit the money into a savings account and make 15% interest. I pay the brokerage back & keep ~$20,000/mo of 100% zero risk passive income. ..Why don't more people do this!?

Your workplace pension is probably invested in the same index funds you can buy yourself. Except they charge you 0.75% and you could pay 0.22%. That difference costs you £47,000 over 30 years on a £100k portfolio.

R.I.P Financial Advisors You don’t need to pay a comprehensive advisor anymore You can now do financial planning, tax planning, estate planning, equity comp planning, using Claude (it will hold your hand) Here are the 10 prompts I use instead of hiring a silly advisor:

@iancowie We need new measuring sticks for success. Owning a home (whilst a decent enough ambition) doesn't make you successful. Right now with a 9 year old, my concern is what job are we educating for? The education system is ancient vs the speed of change of the job market and AI

Good point, Mark. Student debt is the worst thing one generation ever did to another, as I began pointing out at another paper 20 years ago. Back then, many people used to call it an ‘interest-free’ loan and, although fewer say so today, I still think they are wrong.
Mike Ridyard@RidyardMike

@iancowie 🤔💭 A different take on the Boomers v Kiddies debate: less about envy or blame, more about whether the ladder to success still exists. 🪜
