Suggesting that women who may be pregnant should have a pregnancy test before being offered assisted dying has been described as frivolous and non-sensical. Interesting article 👇
Prof. Mark Taubert@ProfMarkTaubert

Article co-published by Oncology Dr Teresa Howe in @BMJ_SPCare : "Terminal illness during pregnancy is more common than people realise. A paper on the epidemiology of cancer in pregnancy noted that it occurred in approx 1:1000 pregnancies,... 🧵blogs.bmj.com/spcare/2026/01…

I was talking to a colleague about locum shifts, and she said there were fewer opportunities because trusts locally (Birmingham) are going abroad and “importing doctors”. Now I know what she meant. This story is really shocking, considering that I need to send endless receipts and justifications even for a 1.65£ parking fee, trust reps apparently spent thousands to travel abroad and recruit doctors when local doctors can’t get jobs. Then the dodgy pay through an intermediary company. The exploitation of doctors who were paid less than local doctors. The avoidance of tax, calling them “students” Taking large numbers of doctors from a country that has a doctors shortage. All this while there has been a recruitment crisis for years, graduates can’t get into training posts, and there are bottlenecks throughout. 😡

Take your time and read this from @rebeccacoombes via @bmj_latest It's - again- @uhbtrust As I say? This is the tip of the iceberg. Exploitation of IMGs- led by senior IMGs and organisations are rampant in the NHS And in a lot of cases, tacitly facilitated by many national organisations. Kudos to those who have raised the issue and working to tackle this. All such schemes should be paused until fraud is ruled out. Shame on those who facilitate these in the NHS. And you know who you are. Time for a lot more to come into the light. @NHSEngland @wesstreeting @NHSEmployers @DHSCgovuk @NHSE_WTE @RCPhysicians bmj.com/content/392/bm…

@MartinSLewis you should have written it all down and recited it back to him and said thank you for giving me access to all your accounts and security questions. I heard someone do just that on a train once and it really shocked the person. Some people are very naive.

Young man, on a table behind me (im sitting out in the sun) speaking to his bank to move money but he's ON SPEAKERPHONE. Why? He's just listed his account numbers, talked through his finance, I can (as can many others) hear the security checks he's being asked. He's now asking how much is in his savings, with the answer coming on speaker. I want to suggest he do it off speaker, but he's being quite aggressive on the phone, so I'm not going to. Yet its not rocket science that this isn't something to play out aloud (let alone being quite annoying to all near)
