This very showy Water Vole was busy feeding on the nettles on Friday at Burton Mere. I’d not seen one for years before this beauty.

First Willow Warbler of the year this morning at Burton Mere. Picked it up singing by Willow Pool. Other birds of note were 3 Spotted Redshanks, 2 Med Gulls, Green Woodpecker calling, Water Vole, and plenty of Brimstone butterflies.

Some of the 26 White-fronted Geese in Chelford yesterday afternoon. One poor bird got dumped on 😆. I do love these geese.

A great day, where it felt like Spring has sprung. First Chiffchaffs of the year singing, a couple of Brimstone and Peacock butterflies and a late afternoon Barn Owl. So looking forward to birding this Spring 😃😃

Nice to catch up with the Slavonian Grebe at Elton this morning. Great little bird, in some grim weather. Bonus bird was a Willow Tit 😃😃

A good morning around Marshside. Highlights were a Merlin chasing a Starling, Snow Goose, Scaup from Faircloughs viewpoint and 30+ Twite close to Southport pier. Chuffed to get those in the bag. Tricky little buggers 😂

A good morning for birdsong. Heard the first Blackcap of the year singing. Probably an overwintering individual. Just wish the temperature would pick up a bit, and some sunshine would be nice too 🙄🌞

Finally caught up with the Black Restart (Eastern race) in Sheringham last weekend. Looking very bedraggled following 24 hours of rain, but great to catch up with this bird 😁@NENBC_Info

Finally caught up with the Shore Lark at Mow Cop this morning after a no show last weekend. Didn’t bank on the fog though. Last weeks conditions when I didn’t see it compared to this morning 🙄😂😂 No idea how I picked it out after 45 minutes and staring into the abyss 😆

Highlights of today’s WeBS at Redesmere were a flyover Great White Egret and also a Little Egret perched in a tree. Otherwise Goldeneye and Shovelers were the best of the rest on a damp grey morning 😁 @CAWOSBirding

A cracking visit to Martin Mere, with Ring-necked Duck, Glossy Ibis and all 3 Egrets in the bag for the year. Lots around on the water. Bitterly cold, but worth being out for the dry bright weather 🥶😃

A walk around Radnor Mere this morning. No sign of yesterdays reported Scaup, or Little Gull. Plenty on the Mere though, with 20+ Mandarin, 6 Goosander, 18 Shoveler, 5 Gadwall, plenty of Wigeon. The woodland had Siskins, Redpoll, Raven, drumming GSW an plenty to entertain me. 😁
