@AbroadInJapan It was a fantastic documentary Chris, you really gave the locals a voice that probably wouldn't have been shown on Japan National TV. Also really puts things about Japan's fragility to natural disasters in perspective of the people.

Every street in the rural town of Wajima tells a story of devastation. When we began filming our earthquake documentary, the focus was set on Tokyo—unearthing how the city is preparing for the anticipated mega-quake. But what we found on our shoot in the small coastal town of Wajima left us stunned. In the early hours of 2024, a magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck, shattering the community's hopes for a fresh start to the new year. By the time we arrived in September, we expected to witness signs of recovery. Instead, we found a town lying in ruins, where the recovery had scarcely begun. Meeting the wonderful and resilient locals was a seriously humbling experience and it was a privilege to interview them and share their experiences. Let’s hope the coming year brings the people of Wajima the kindness and relief this year denied them. Our documentary, 'The Day Japan Fears the Most', is out now on Abroad in Japan.
