3.5 years later, the point still stands. Depth is only depth if the player is good enough to play. We're now talking about a 31 year old who we KNOW isn't up to the task.

@espen_ts Until he doesn’t & we lose in CL games because of it. This is the issue I mentioned in my original tweet, every player in the squad has to be able to contribute when it matters. He can’t. We know this.

@Adz77 I disagree. He is good in the air and in blocking (low) shots. He is no world class, but an reliable backup, and better than many others we have had the last years. And i think he proves that in many games

@Adz77 Your honour. Let Digby find a 5th choice CB that accepts being last in pecking order, doesn’t cost us more than roughly 4 million € while also never being injured. All that while we also need to to strengthen other positions and balance the books.

@Adz77 Allegri values him. Motta didn’t. And he was sent away when Sarri was here due to him being really poor before that point. He had a really solid stint before his mistake against Villarreal 21-22. A bit of a redemption period. Same Allegris last season.

@Adz77 You’re arguying black is white. Probably cause you’re mixing his performances from his earliest years with his latter ones. In his last season with us, we won 9 of his 17 games. Only lost 2. We didn’t concede in 8 of those games either.

@Adz77 @emaxstatman Huijesn was awful business, lean I think made sense at the time coming off a 0 goal season and struggling to break into the team. Most people were celebrating that sale when it happened. Just seemed like he needed a change of scenery, I doubt he wouldve have a good year at juve

In short, Juve hasn't made that many truly bad signings for massive prices in its history that there's a wealth of options in this silly conversation. But it feels very prisoner-of-the-moment to me to class Dusan as such. It wasn't all bad, especially at the beginning.

I'll be honest, I don't think the "Is Vlahovic the worst signing Juve has ever made?" discussion is actually worth having. 43 goals in 104 league matches (58 in 145 overall) isn't nothing. €70M weighs heavily, but names like Melo or even Salas ring louder to me. Meh.
