India’s AI story is growing—but is it deep enough? As reported in The Times of India, while the country is producing a large pool of AI developers, the real gap lies in research engineers and frontier scientists—the minds that build from first principles. The focus, experts argue, must shift from application-led growth to strengthening core research, compute infrastructure, and long-term investment in talent. India shows promise through frugal innovation and impactful applications, but competing globally will require sustained bets on deep tech, academia, and industry collaboration. The need is clear: nurture a builder mindset, enable access to compute, and invest in world-class research ecosystems. Because in AI, true leadership isn’t just about using technology—it’s about creating it. Can roads clean the air we breathe? In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Delhi Government has partnered with IIT Madras to test “smog-eating” coatings powered by titanium dioxide—materials that use sunlight to break down harmful pollutants like NO₂ and VOCs. As reported by The Indian Express, this project, led by Prof. Somnath C. Roy from the Department of Physics at IIT Madras, will simulate Delhi’s air in controlled lab conditions before moving to on-ground trials. From roads to rooftops, this innovation could quietly work in the background to combat pollution—alongside existing measures. A promising step towards science-driven, scalable solutions for cleaner urban air. No Lockdown, Govt Issues Big Assurance Amid global volatility in energy markets and supply chains, the Government of India has reaffirmed that there is no proposal for a lockdown, urging citizens to remain calm and avoid misinformation. With crude prices surging globally, the Centre has reduced excise duties on petrol and diesel by ₹10 per litre and imposed export duties to ensure domestic availability, while absorbing significant financial impact to shield consumers. #FuelPrices #India #EnergySecurity #GlobalMarkets #FactCheck @PMOIndia | @narendramodi | @PetroleumMin | @HardeepSPuri | @FinMinIndia @nsitharaman | @nsitharamanoffc | @PIB_India @MIB_India|
