Canada needs to start treating social media like it is: foreign interference. Our Charter is meant for Canadians. So it's long time we stopped giving anyone who's not Canadian (or PR and living in Canada) a voice in our media. Create a gov run agency that can offer free ID validation to citizens and any company. Force social media to restrict all content Canadians can see to content published by other Canadians. Canadians can still share outside links if they choose but they'd be guaranteed that the interactions would be from other Canadians only. Canada can establish allowlists of other partner countries who enforce similar rigorous ID validation. It should be incredibly clear that the person was ID'd and their nationality. The individual should not be required to publicize any other of their personal information to the social media company or the people they interact with online. @JustinTrudeau @theJagmeetSingh @PierrePoilievre

Hey @elonmusk. I had the *cabin* camera die on me in my model 3 just yesterday. It completely bricked my ability to use FSD, I can't engage it at all. The other cameras seem to work just fine and FSD is already capable of dealing with the eye tracking disabled, so why is it completely bricked? Shouldn't it just default to the old steering wheel way?

@jens_stjernberg It's always good to learn the underlying mechanics of anything you're working on, but it's not always necessary. In my experience the more performant you want something the more low-level you need to go. Anything automated/automagic generally only handles 70-90% of use cases.

Does people still use raw SQL? I've always used ORMs, such as typeORM, Prisma and DrizzleORM. Is it still worth learning raw SQL, even tough we have these tools?

I know I've been less active now that the election is over but I figured I'd try something fun that I've always wondered. x.com/i/grok/share/U…

Danielle Smith is apparently aiming to be the worst Premier of Canada. #cdnpoli
Wes Hanney@Aeosis

@ABDanielleSmith Christ. You're going full super PAC mode and eliminating automation? Just what you all need, corporations taking over your elections and leaving it up humans to erroneously and inconsistently count your ballots. And here I thought you couldn't make Alberta worse.

Albertans deserve elections that are fair, secure, and reflect the true will of the people. That’s why our government is introducing the Election Statutes Amendment Act with the following proposed changes: • Banning the use of electronic tabulators and other automated voting machines, requiring all ballots to be counted by hand to protect election integrity. • Eliminating vouching at voting stations to strengthen identification and verification processes. • Requiring unofficial vote counts to be completed within 12 hours of polls closing to provide timely, reliable results. • Voters being required to cast their ballot in their constituency of residence or by requesting a special ballot. • Expanding access to special ballots, allowing any voter to request one without needing to provide a reason while protecting integrity by requiring voters to personally request their special ballot (with exceptions for those needing assistance due to a disability). • Updating the Recall Act to make it easier for Albertans to hold elected officials accountable by lowering the signature threshold and extending the timeframe to collect signatures. • Improving the Citizen Initiative Act process by setting the threshold for all successful petitions at 10 per cent of eligible voters who participated in the last general election. • Allow corporate and union contributions for provincial elections while maintaining transparency and accountability through existing financial disclosure requirements. • Improve access to voting for First Nations and Métis Settlements during referendums and Senate elections. • Enhance emergency response provisions for voting disruptions during referendums and Senate elections.

@Justkimmy1919 @ctvottawa Totally. I'm like 99% confident that had they had someone as cool headed as Carney leading their party, someone not playing into social conservatism and sticking to fiscal conservatism they'd have won no problem.

@NovEmma @peggy_blair I blame inflammatory bots and trolls on social media. It's why I advocate for regulation for social media.

@Aeosis @peggy_blair But how did we get this way and why? We need our leaders (and the players) to act like mature adults because they also understand the importance leading this way.

I was actually ready to vote Conservative before Justin Trudeau resigned, and I had quite a few posts that were critical of the Liberal party, but every single time I posted something remotely favourable, I got called a libtard or a retard or a c*nt or worse. 1/

@johnpavlovitz Idk. Most Americans I've spoken to either think nothing will happen or don't care because it's not happening to them.

@Ammaryasser404 Learn your IDE and its capabilities. So many engineers I know have no idea how to do refactoring or even simple searching in their own tools.

Almost like we should start regulating social media by: 1. Hide content from folks who aren't ID'd 2. Require everyone in your borders to validate their IDs 3. Display the nationalities of those who've been ID'd (and nothing else) 4. Allow content from other countries who've followed the same stringent requirements Bot problem mostly solved overnight.

That's why I love X so much. You meet nice people here who are open to the culture of other countries. There are no insults or hate here – Elon ensures that with his strict controls. You can spend hours having sophisticated conversations with other people here. A day on X is truly enriching. 😂😂😂
