📈 Uganda-bound cargo through the Port of Mombasa is on the rise with a 25% increase in volumes last year proving the region’s largest maritime gateway is delivering greater efficiency. Today, leadership from the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) including Chairman Mr. Katongole Emmanuel and Commissioner General Mr. John Musinguzi visited the port where they reinforced the importance of the facility not only a transit hub but also the primary artery for Uganda’s trade. With 10.91 million metric tons handled for Uganda in 2025 up from 8.70 million metric tons in 2024 , Uganda remains the largest transit market for the port. Discussions with KPA focused on collaboration, cargo safety, and timely delivery. URA leaders also highlighted the need for expansion programs to keep pace with growing regional demand. Thanks to joint efforts between KPA and partner agencies, streamlined operations are already helping lower costs for Ugandan importers and consumers. As KPA’s GM Cargo Operations Dr. Sudi Mwasinago noted, Uganda is one of the port’s biggest users and this continued partnership is about more than infrastructure, it’s about strengthening trade stability across East Africa. @URAuganda
