Our strategic direction is deliberate, focused on scaling domestic revenue, formalizing the economy, and anchoring Uganda’s growth on a resilient, self‑sustaining fiscal base.

Masaka 📍 Landlords Shift Gears from TIN Registration to Tax Payment. In Masaka, something revolutionary is happening, and no, it’s not a new bar or boda stage. It’s tax compliance! This follows a hands-on rental income tax sensitisation session held yesterday in Masaka City, where property owners are showing a new willingness to comply. The shift isn’t coming from threats or penalties, but from clarity through tax education. Lubowa Kizito, a landlord in Kimanya with 10 rental units, like many others, had a TIN but lacked the confidence. Kizito confessed, "The URA system sounded more like a complicated science experiment than a tool, until now." "The session has made the next steps clear," he continued. "I plan to file my provisional return next week." And he’s not alone. Sarah Namukasa, a small-scale property owner, says the training replaced confusion with confidence especially when it comes to navigating URA’s digital platforms. Meanwhile, commercial players like David Mugabe acknowledge that there are still policy hurdles, but they welcome the transparency and practical guidance. Isaac Aijuka, Acting Supervisor of Tax Education in the Southwestern Region, says the mindset shift is real, "We are now seeing a clear shift toward filing and payment. Landlords in Masaka are no longer just collecting rent, they’re also reporting it for tax purposes.” As URA rolls out similar engagements across the country, the hope is that this Masaka momentum becomes a national trend boosting revenue while making compliance feel less like a mystery and more like a journey walked together.
