Silver medals capped an impressive weekend for the URA Volleyball Team after it finished as first runners-up in the Corporate category at the 12th Jinja Open Volleyball Tournament. The event held at the MUBS Jinja Campus grounds yesterday had URA winning three of its four matches to place second among the five corporate teams. The awards will be delivered to Kampala. The two-day tournament, hosted by Jinja Volleyball Club, attracted top local and regional teams in a competition aimed at promoting sportsmanship and strengthening community ties through volleyball. Team captain Gabriel Felix Muhanguzi said the collective effort of players, coaches and supporters contributed to the great performance. "I wish to extend my sincere thanks to all of you who participated, directly and indirectly, in the Jinja Open Volleyball Tournament this year. These tournaments help to build team cohesion and also help us appreciate the sport," Muhanguzi said. He also lauded the team's determination throughout the competition and urged players to maintain the momentum ahead of upcoming tournaments. URA has now shifted its focus to the Corporate Leagues and the Wazzei Open Volleyball Tournament, scheduled for August 8 and 9, 2026, as it seeks to build on its podium finish in Jinja. #CorporateLeague #FFeBanno

I had a productive meeting with Hon. Justice Mike Chibita, Chairperson of Scripture Union Uganda, and Mr. Samuel Turyahikayo, National Director of Scripture Union Uganda. I appreciate the important work Scripture Union Uganda is doing to raise a God fearing generation in our country. We discussed the complementary mandates of our respective institutions and agreed to strengthen our collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

I thank all taxpayers and stakeholders who joined us for today's #NationalPostBudgetDialogue. I also thank Hon. @henrymusasizi1 for honouring us as Guest of Honour and launching the URA Client Service Charter. My gratitude also goes to our Board Chairperson, Emmanuel Katongole, @Emmanuel_Rotary, for his keynote address opening this year's post budget engagements. Today's engagement is anchored on clarity. We want taxpayers to understand the FY2026/27 tax amendments, how they affect businesses and individuals, and how, together, we can align our expectations as we implement them. Our ambition is clear. We want to build a stronger, more formalised economy by raising Uganda's Tax-to-GDP ratio to 20%, and to finance more of our national development through our own resources. This is patriotism in action, every taxpayer playing their part in Uganda's story of self-reliance. URA remains committed to simplifying compliance and deepening our partnership with every taxpayer, guided by integrity, transparency and professionalism in every interaction, because a fair and transparent tax system is built on trust. I encourage every Ugandan to understand these reforms, engage with us whenever clarity is needed, and continue playing your part in building a stronger, more prosperous and self-reliant Uganda.

“In a bid to strategise and improve performance, we have taken the initiative to participate in other tournaments to gain more exposure ahead of the Jinja Open Tournament. After last week's wins, the team is fully geared to bring the trophy home,” he said. The tournament is expected to attract competition, with top men's sides including JVC, Spartans, Cock Sherry, Jinja SSS, Kyaggwe, Bukedea Comprehensive School, YVC, Wazeei VC, UCU-Mbale, Mbiko VC and Mukono VC, all confirmed. #CorporateLeague #FFeBanno

The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) volleyball team will this weekend head into the 12th Edition of the Jinja Open Volleyball Tournament with confidence after an unbeaten outing at the fourth round of the 2026 Corporate League. This comes after URA sealed victories over NSSF and Diamond Trust Bank last Sunday at Jephi International University Butabika, a performance that has boosted morale ahead of the two-day tournament scheduled for July 4 and 5 at the MUBS Jinja Campus grounds. Mbarara 📍 As the Mbarara dialogue draws to a close, Commissioner Tinka reiterates the need for synergy between URA and taxpayers. He emphasises that tax administration is not a onesided exercise but rather, a shared responsibility, where the institution provides clarity, fairness, and efficient service, while taxpayers respond with timely disclosure, accurate returns, and honest conduct. This partnership, he notes, is the most sure pathway to sustainable revenue collection and national development.
