Knowledgeable, yet still missing the bigger picture. Yes, it’s true that not every soldier can “just leave” the military. But it’s equally true that some people walk out without consequences simply because they have connections, tribal backing, or the right godfather. Nigeria operates on two systems: the law for common Nigerians, and shortcuts for the privileged. But there’s one thing Nigerians need to stop misunderstanding: It is NOT the duty of civilians to motivate or protect the military. The military does not run on Facebook applause. It runs on political will, leadership, equipment, discipline, and clear lawful directives. So yes , what we truly lack in this country isn’t “support.” Nigeria lacks leaders with hearts of gold and balls of steel. Now let’s address the biggest ignorance many Nigerians cling to: “A soldier must obey ANY order given.” False. A soldier has the RIGHT and DUTY to disobey an illegal order. Globally, including Nigeria, an illegal order is: • an order outside their constitutional duty • an order targeting innocent civilians • an order rooted in corruption or private interest • an order contradicting the laws of the state • an order protecting terrorists, bandits, or criminals A soldier who obeys an illegal order is as guilty as the one who issued it. That is why military tribunals exist. Now let’s dive into Nigeria’s darkest truth: We have soldiers who WANT to crush terrorists… but leadership ties their hands. We have: • Soldiers told not to fire at terrorists but capture them alive despite being fired upon. • Officers who know where bandits sleep, but are told to wait. • States where governors openly say “I can’t order the army to attack terrorists because they dont have rights over the military”. • Terrorists called “repentant Boko Haram” and reintegrated into the society or the army. • Criminals flown abroad while their victims rot in IDP camps This is not a military problem. This is a leadership problem. And to Nigerians, you people need to wake the hell up. We are too docile, too easy to manipulate, too emotionally weak, too quick to scream “amen” to pastors who sit on altars of gold calling fire from heaven on “bad leaders”… yet the bad leaders remain untouched and the country keeps sinking. Religion has become anesthesia. It numbs, it distracts, it pacifies. You cannot pray your way out of a crisis created by corrupt men. You must act, demand, protest, vote boldly, and refuse nonsense. Until Nigerians accept that nobody is coming to save us, that the military cannot fix what leadership has broken, that pastors cannot cast out corruption, that “amen” cannot replace civic duty… …this country will continue to get worse. We don’t need more prayers shouted in fear. We need citizens with backbone. We need leaders with courage. We need a military empowered by lawful, fearless leadership. We need Nigerians who can THINK. The moment Nigerians wake up, Nigeria will change in one decade. But until then? We remain a nation ruled by criminals, defended by the frustrated, and pacified by pastors. That is the bitter truth.

This unarmed citizen barely escaped getting killed by Nigerian police officers. I hope they face justice, hand-cuffs and mug shots to boot as it’s the norm now.
