NEW TRENDING BLOG: "The recent revelations of imposters, as well as the ensuing public conversation, further clarify a centuries old issue, that #Afrolatinx histories and our present, have been equal parts violated, ignored and appropriated." afrolatinofestnyc.com/trending/2020/…

Council Member Chi Ossé was just arrested while defending his constituent, Carmella Charrington, from eviction. This is the result of deed theft and the ongoing displacement of Black homeowners in Bed-Stuy. Our office is closely monitoring this situation and will provide updates as this develops.

The Holocaust lasted for 4 years, and survivors and their descendants are still being paid out today. Japanese-American internment camps lasted for ~4 years, and survivors were paid $20k each in 1988. Slavery lasted for 246 YEARS in the US… yet no reparations for the families of those affected.
U.S. Mission to the UN@USUN

This week, the U.S. voted against a call for reparations for descendants of the international slave trade between the 15th and 19th centuries. Let’s talk about it. (1/7)

So, about that joint US-Ecuador bombing of an alleged drug trafficking organization training camp ... Turns out the Ecuadorian military showed up days before, burned a dairy farm, tortured farmers, then later bombed it and released a propaganda video with the US military's help. Ladies and gentlemen, the War on Drugs.

"Colonialism did its job of isolating us." Speaking at the CELAC–Africa Forum in Bogota, Colombian Vice President Francia Marquez called for stronger Latin America–Africa ties, saying closer cooperation could boost economic growth and challenge colonial legacies.

At the Salvador Allende hospital in Havana today, when the Puerto Rican delegation brought their huge suitcases of medicine in. The entire U.S. government didn't want this to happen, and the activists made sure Cuban doctors would get supplies anyway. Incredible people.

BREAKING: Justice Department is pursuing criminal investigations of Colombia's president, who has clashed with Trump. There is no indication the inquiries were initiated by the White House but the president could use them as a cudgel, as he has in the past. nytimes.com/2026/03/20/nyr…

Just in case it’s been hard to keep track, in the past few weeks the Noboa dictatorship has: • Bombed Colombia • Bombed the Amazon • Deployed 75,000 troops to round up children in a drug purge while he continues trafficking cocaine through his shipping enterprise •Prohibited journalists from recording military operations •Expanded the work day to 12 hours •Kidnapped the mayor of the largest city in Ecuador for publicly criticizing him •Banned his biggest political opposition party from participating in elections •Disregarded a democratic vote and pushed through mining reforms that 65% of the country voted against •Was accused by the head of the Los Lobos Cartel for ordering the assassination of his opponent in the presidential election •Had unmarked cars chase and intimidate journalists The list goes on but my thumbs hurt

NEW from @nytimes: The Trump administration is seeking to oust the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, in its talks with Cuban political leaders. The Americans plan to allow the Castro family to keep power if they agree to economic changes, creating a client state for the US.

Right now there are three reality shows in Latin America: in Colombia, Mexico, and Argentina. In all three, people have made openly anti-Black comments. Anti-Blackness is still very normalized in Latin America.

Mayor here, Stop making excuses for politicians who already earn an amazing salary and can pay for their own shit, yet still pass the bill to taxpayers. Doing his job successfully doesn’t entitle him to any privilege beyond feeling proud of his sacrifice and work. Trust me, he can buy his crab legs on his dime, they taste much better that way.
Rebekah Jones@GeoRebekah

Fact check: The total for meals was actually $801,000, not $1 million. That total is for all home games over three years, AND includes money spent for meals outside of Ravens games, including office parties, events and even funerals. The money was spent only at local restaurants. Mayor Scott has reduced crime in Baltimore by 60%. Give the man his damn crab legs and stop lying on him.

Saludos.
