In 1969, Ghana's Prime Minister Kofi Busia issued the Aliens Compliance Order on Nov 18. All non-Ghanaians without valid residence permits had just 14 days to leave or face arrest. It targeted hundreds of thousands of long-term immigrants—mostly Nigerians (estimates 140k–200k+), who were traders, farmers, and workers dominating parts of the economy. Driven by unemployment, job indigenization pushes, and anti-alien sentiment, it led to mass deportations. Many left abruptly, with hardships on the return journey. This was years before Nigeria's 1983 "Ghana Must Go" expulsions. History's full of these mutual grievances on both sides.

NNPC wanted to do maintenance on an oil well in Okrika Rivers state. They awarded the contract to Builders Resources Limited. While working on the well, They caused a fire that has been burning on the river since 25th Feb 2024, polluting the environment and killing all fishes in the river, leaving the community with no way to fish or farm. To this day, nothing has been done about it. The funny thing is that some people from the community will still vote for this incompetent APC government in 2027 because they worship wike.
