Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach.
The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

@AfyAnthony @PeteTheGreek13 The Mets were not a top 10 unit last year. They had an excellent August and were mid the rest of the year
English

Mets Commentators, Podcaster, Beat writers: These Mets look lifeless. Where is the emotion?
All of us who didn't drink the David Stearns Kool-Aid: THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU REMOVE THE HEART FROM A TEAM. #LGM
English

@RobertSportsBet @PeteTheGreek13 Mets offense last year was top 10 in baseball. The issue was their pitching. That we all know. So what did the Mets do? They got rid of their top 2 offensive players. Makes perfect sense.
English

@PeteTheGreek13 How’d it go last year with the “heart and soul of the team” all there and playing everyday?
English

@KyleGelling Most real Met fans hate this team. Why? Well you let go 2 of the most popular and most productive players on a team that had a top 10 offense last year.
English

@strataxe12 @thesportsgenius @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life I get it but respectively disagree. Bichette can be good but he has no position.
English

@AfyAnthony @thesportsgenius @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life Ultimately I’m as frustrated also. Just felt we really assembled a good team and made changes to shake things up. This is becoming historically bad.
English

@thesportsgenius @strataxe12 @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life Again Stearns has won 53 percent of his games. Basically 86 games per year. If that is everyone’s definition of excellence we are in trouble. He has won no championships.
English

@strataxe12 @AfyAnthony @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life If building a team was as easy as using metrics available to everybody why pay $10 million for some arrogant narcissist nerd like Stearns.
Clearly this group of players is showing that Stearns method is flawed in a big way
English

@strataxe12 @thesportsgenius @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life Yeah. Run prevention has worked out well. Let’s get players to replace the players we let go and put them all out of position. Yep the dodgers and Yankees do that. lol. Only the Mets!! That’s why we are the Mets!!
English

@thesportsgenius @AfyAnthony @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life This may be true. But it’s not just stearns method. Dodgers and Yankees do the same. I think this year is more about just extreme deviations from players historical performance. Mixed with some expectations for some players (senga, Vientos) that were unfounded
English

@RobertOBrien26 @strataxe12 @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life When was the last time we had a first baseman that was home grown that would hit 40 home runs every year and drive in 100 and play every day and the fans loved him. I will hang up now and listen.
English

@AfyAnthony @strataxe12 @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life And Pete may not be the best fielder but he's been incredibly durable in his career
English

@AfyAnthony @Mets_Fan4_Life @MetsMoney Alonso has been awful in 26
Nimmo had 14 rbi and 5 hrs in a 2 game span last year and disappears for months
English

@Hawksheart7 @NjTank99 Alonso and Soto weren’t the issue you need starting pitching. The Mets shop at Walmart for pitching and it don’t work
English

@strataxe12 @thesportsgenius @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life Yeah. War. Yep. That’s the problem. War is a made up stat for non baseball players. I’m tired of that stat.
English

@thesportsgenius @AfyAnthony @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life The moves the Mets made in offseason were heralded by baseball experts. They were ranked in top 5 for offensive war and were widely predicted to win the East By people who have no emotional investment in the team. It has just not worked.
English

@strataxe12 @thesportsgenius @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life lol. Not sure what your point is. But ok. The fact is the players that replaced the players that left stink!! Not easy to play in NY. Never has. Not everyone is built for it. Alonso and Nimmo were.
English

@thesportsgenius @strataxe12 @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life I love the Mets also but I will say it again you just don’t let 40 home runs and 100 plus RBIs walk out the door.
English

@strataxe12 @AfyAnthony @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life Polanco was a terrible signing. An oft injured part time player signed to play a position he never played before in a BIG city.
Long time Met fans love this team to death.
English

@thesportsgenius @strataxe12 @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life We have seen not everyone can play in New York.
English

@AfyAnthony @strataxe12 @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life How many players have come to flushing and melted like a freaking ice cream cone....
This is the same story just different characters
English

@AfyAnthony @Mets_Fan4_Life @MetsMoney Pete Alonso had the most RBI in the world as a Met since the day he was called up.
A daily presence in the lineup 162 games a year 41HR 111 RBI...
Stearns let him walk out the door like he was nothing.
English

@AfyAnthony @strataxe12 @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life Exactly. Alonso isnt an MVP every year but for 7 seasons he gives you 41 and 111 slow starts be damned
English

@strataxe12 @thesportsgenius @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life Bichette yes but he never played in NY which is not easy. Semien has been on the decline for a while and is 36 and Polanco has injury history never hit over 100 RBIs and hit over 30 once. No comparison
English

@thesportsgenius @AfyAnthony @MetsMoney @Mets_Fan4_Life Polanco has that baseball card along with bichette and Simien (different numbers but very good). And much better historical clutch stats. My point is if you want to look at back of card you need to be consistent
English

@MetsSouthFla The stadium looks empty on a Sunday afternoon double header. Not good.
