Canada is going to get bent over and used very hard for the stunts it’s been pulling. It’s only pain for them from here on out. These political stunts will be paid for for decades. There is now no scenario where Canada wont end up in even more pain with its fleet decision. Idiocy costs a ton of money.

Yep, the GlobalEye acquisition decision was a huge indicator. Canada has to expect the Trump Admin to try to derail Canadian Gripen acquisition/co-production given that Gripen NG uses a US GE414 engine & other components. That gives them a veto which they used against Columbia but not against Brazil Gripen NG procurement. Much will hinge on CUSMA negotiations between the US & Canada.
🇨🇦 Policy Hawk@CDNPolicyHawk

It's being reported that the decision around the F-35/Gripen has effectively been made, with sources telling La Presse that it will be a mixed fleet of ~30 F-35s and ~60 Gripens. The remaining decision is about the timing of the announcement. lapresse.ca/affaires/2026-…

@_kruptos You are interesting Kruptos. At times I think I am jousting with an intelligent voice on the right who has very different views to mine. At other times, it seems like I am dealing with someone on the left. Maybe you are not sure yourself.

This is so revealing. It shows a man who is so used to hiding behind the managerial consensus making mechanics that he cannot think or act unless he has the cover of “consensus.” One wonders if there is even a private thought in his mind? Did he question? Does @erinotoole have a private set of thoughts about Covid and the response of the Canadian administrative state. Does he know? Would he dare to give voice to them? This is, for @erinotoole, the essence of “ordered liberty.” Being a rule follower. Always operating within and under the cover of institutional and expert consensus. We are veering very close to “I was just following orders” defense used during Nuremberg. @erinotoole held one set of opinions that was the “consensus approach” right up until the Great Barrington Declaration gave him cover to disagree with the “consensus approach” but only along the lines suggested by the GBD. This suggests that he had private disagreements but held them back until he had cover and only expressed them in ways that were safe, that allowed him to point to the opinions of others. He did not form private thoughts. If he did he kept them hidden. Ketman, the posture of outward compliance while maintaining private views. This is what happens in totalitarian states. You are expected to comply totally, to submit even your private thoughts to authority, to the consensus. @erinotoole is maintaining every bit the anonymous front that we use to disagree with the regime, only his public exterior is one of submission so as to hide his private thoughts, if he has them. If not, then he is a creature of the machine. “Be bold.”
Erin O'Toole@erinotoole

@fleming_benn @_kruptos There was not. If you take the Great Barrington Declaration as the point when the consensus approach was challenged it was Fall 2020. Early in 2021 we began to propose loosening some restrictions especially related to schools & raised issues related to harm from restrictions.

@AgFreeAgent @WxOntario1 I was about to wake the wife up and tell her to head the basement, it was fairly intense here for a bit. Home Weather station said 117 km/h and there was dime sized hail on deck when i went to check on the hydro at barn.

@WxOntario1 was a bit breezy here last night. Ripped a few sections of the 1 barn roof up. The Hogs were enjoying the morning sun this AM while in the barn.

Went to update my Fitbit today and…. “ The standalone Fitbit app was retired and officially replaced by the new Google Health app. This massive rebrand and system update officially rolled out and killed the old app on May 19, 2026. Because the change was an automatic over-the-air update, all of your existing Fitbit data was migrated to the new app automatically” Not sure how I feel…@functionland @SnoozUp_app

@Adrianhorsepow @erinotoole That's just muddled thinking. Canada is dealing with a major trading partner that wants to deep six us. Given that, Carney is doing well.

For people surprised that I found the PM’s speech in NYC to be positive they forget two things. First, that we need a deal on tariffs & trade with the US. And second, that the PM is now taking the approach we advocated for years ago. 1/2 nationalpost.com/opinion/erin-o…

At its heart is Lake Nipissing, where stunning shorelines, great fishing and unforgettable views take centre stage. Step aboard the Chief Commanda II and take in panoramic views of the city while enjoying unforgettable sunsets, or stop at the Heritage Railway and Carousel and enjoy a nostalgic, family-friendly waterfront experience alongside locals and visitors alike. Come explore northern Ontario and keep discovering.

Today I rose to address the CRTC’s streaming tax increase and the growing concerns being raised by industry and our trading partners. With affordability pressures already high, Canada cannot afford policies that risk higher consumer costs, reduced investment, and unnecessary trade tensions ahead of the CUSMA review. Below is a short segment of my 10-minute intervention in the House. Full speech can be found here➡️ youtu.be/b8nNHYqPHgM?si…

No. US 'allies' have been attacking and denigrating the US for years, while being beneficiaries of the US largess and indifference. While China has been respectful and mature, not insulting or demeaning but establishing themselves as equals. Looking to the US as a market from which they can benefit, and have appreciation of that. And now we have a president that holds nations accountable for their words, and lack of action in regards to shared defense spending, and trade imbalances. With 'friends' like Canada and Europe... well, the US just isn't into you any more.

Richard Haass just made a remarkable argument on CNN: That America now has worse relations with Canada than China because the U.S. has spent years attacking allies with tariffs and political fights instead of building a united front against Beijing. And honestly, that gets to the heart of one of the biggest foreign policy debates happening right now: America’s greatest strategic advantage was never just military power. It was the alliance network. Dozens of countries aligned economically, militarily, and diplomatically around U.S. leadership. The argument Haass is making is that Washington has started weakening that advantage itself. He is correct.

Trump is not pushing Canada and Mexico to China. He is protecting America first, like a strong leader should. Canada and Mexico have taken advantage of the US for years with bad trade deals, open borders, and letting drugs pour in. Trump is fixing that with real pressure. If they run to China, that is their stupid choice, not his fault. China wants weak neighbors. America needs strong borders and fair trade. FT always writes negative stuff about Trump. They never see how his tough style gets better deals for American workers. I think history will show Trump was right again. What do you think?

A PARENT’S JOURNEY THROUGH YOUTH SPORTS: Age 5: “He’s got a cannon.” Age 6: “He’s the fastest kid out there. Coach said so.” Age 7: “Rec ball isn’t challenging him anymore.” Age 8: “We tried out for select. Obviously made it.” Age 9: “$2,800 for the season. Plus uniforms. Plus tournaments. Plus hotels.” Age 10: “Cooperstown is basically a family vacation, right?” Age 11: “He needs a hitting guy. And a pitching guy. And probably a mental performance coach.” Age 12: “I’m not a crazy sports parent. The OTHER parents are crazy.” Age 13: “We changed schools. For academics. (And also baseball.)” Age 14: “Showcases are a requirement at this age.” Age 15: “Ya his ranking just ticked up. We’re cooking.” Age 16: “He just needs to get seen by the right school.” Age 17: “The D1 schools want him to walk on. He’ll earn a spot by sophomore year.” Age 18: “Okay, D2 is actually really competitive.” Age 19: “He’s redshirting. Strategic.” Age 20: “He’s focusing on school now.” Age 21: “You know what? He’s so much happier.” Roughly 7% of high schoolers play in college. About 1.5% of those get drafted. Less than half of draftees ever play one day in the big leagues. The odds of our kids going pro are somewhere between “struck by lightning” and “find a $100 in old shorts.” I love youth sports (all my kids play a bunch of them) just keep a good perspective my friends. ✌️
