Ok. So a few points on this. A sovereign wealth fund can only be created with SURPLUS capital. Norway—the country that is the model for Mark Carney's fund— created their sovereign wealth fund out of oil PROFITS. Canada doesn't have a surplus, we have DEBT. So essentially Carney is creating a sovereign wealth fund out of debt and betting that the profits will exceed the interest with YOUR MONEY. Carney's "sovereign wealth fund" is a cleverly disguised insurance policy to attract private investment and insure investments from fund managers like... Wait for it... Yes, you guessed it... Brookfield. The Liberals, under Justin Trudeau and the cult of net zero, scared away trillions in private investment. Under Mark Carney they've failed to secure a trade deal with the United States. What that means is Canada's economy is hollow. It has no investment for growth and nowhere to send its products since China buys almost nothing from us and the EU is too far away for any real trade to occur—it just doesn't make sense logistically. So what Carney is trying to do is artificially inflate Canada's economy with a huge surge of cash: money his own government is printing and money invested by every day Canadians. The aspiration is to create a big enough pot to attract private investment and insure those investments with the fund. If any of the projects fail, Carney and the Liberals will pay out the private investors with YOUR MONEY. What he's starting here is potentially a national Ponzi scheme. Alberta will need to protect itself since oil and gas will be central to this fund. In the coming months I suspect the Liberals will take further steps to federalize the oil and gas industries. This is not an economic strategy. This is comparable to putting your last $20 in a slot machine and hoping you win big.

We’re introducing the Canada Strong Fund — Canada’s first sovereign wealth fund — to create more prosperity for Canadians now and for generations to come.

Michael. As you are well aware since I know you are a parliamentary geek and I’ve known you since you were 12, when you have a majority government, you get control of committees. This isn’t un democratic. This is the Westminster system.
Michael Cooper, MP@MichaelCooperMP

BREAKING The Liberals just RAMMED through a motion to seize control of ALL parliamentary committees. Carney is wasting no time abusing his new "majority" that he didn't earn at the ballot box to SHUT DOWN oversight & accountability. A MASSIVE UNDEMOCRATIC POWER GRAB.

Worked there 10 years. Treated great. Terribly upsetting news to see this. It’s also, sad confirmation, on Day 365 since last spring’s Federal Election, of what a terrible economic year Canada has had. I seriously, SERIOUSLY had my doubts Carney could run a worse economy than Trudeau. It’s very close. There’s a reason we went to an election so early. The false premise of getting a Trump deal & the baked-in reality of horrid economic policy - 11th year and counting. theglobeandmail.com/business/artic…

Here’s what kids under 16 use social media for. I’ve seen this in my own household & other parents have shared their kids’ usage: 1. Their sports - most competitive sports teams have Insta or X accounts. Highlights, fundraisers, & scheduling can get done on these sites. TeamSnap is sports-exclusive - but argument could be made it’s “social media” - I wouldn’t agree it it could be. 2. College scholarships - teammate of my son’s in Ajax was posting soccer highlights online from the time he was 12-13. Great kid/great family. He’s headed to the States in 4 months for a D3 program, & the school & family got in contact thru Instagram when he was 15. People want THAT kid banned? 3. Digital Literacy: Mastering video editing, graphic design, & even basic coding or algorithm logic - all gets practiced & accomplished on Insta & others. 4. Musicians - a huge gateway for kids 14-15 who sing, write songs, play an instrument & edit music. There’s a huge community of teens who do this. 5. Politics! I know, I know - a lot of politics IS toxic - often from the actual voters more than the actual politicians - but it’s how younger folks are getting their news - I wish it was all AM radio live shows, trust me. More than you might think are, mind you. 6. Support networks. Lonely kids often get support far more than they are exploited or taunted or marginalized. We’re shutting off the good things instead of the hard work of policing the bad things. The internet is a vital lifeline for marginalized youth (LGBTQ+ teens or those with illnesses) to find others who get their lived experience. 7. Cooking - our son learned recipes from Insta at age 14 or 15 he wanted to cook, or be cooked for him. Was wonderful to share those experiences of him discovering them. A lot other skills they can learn at earlier ages are taught on Insta or X. 8. Yes, talking with each other. Instead of making them scared of a bad experience (that’s what us parents are for -awareness, guidance, explanation, & yeah, disciplining for behaving as they shouldn’t) - we could be taking away a lifeline to chat & talk with peers, colleagues, new pals, & heaven forbid, prospective boyfriends or girlfriends. A parent, or parents who might be firm on no phone until 16, could at least permit their kid to chat to peers (with blockers & restrictions for strangers) on a computer or tablet. Anyway - I saw what Manitoba’s doing & don’t think it’s sensible. I see the argument, but I think a kid in high school, who has started a part-time job, or is taking Driver Education, or is 24 months away from moving for post-secondary….yeah, I approve of them being on Instagram, Discord, or Snapchat. Just my two cents.

@JNJdubya @sunlorrie I am saying exactly that. I’m in Carleton. It wasn’t gerrymandering. Per previous poll data, his lead should have been bigger. Fanjoy just outworked him, and Pierre has been absent since he was elected leader. He took it for granted. As for long ballot? They’re all clowns.

COLUMN: Is Canada becoming a one-party state? While the federal Liberals smugly refer to themselves as Canada’s natural governing party, the historical record suggests it may be true, despite the danger it poses to democracy. torontosun.com/opinion/column…

@sunlorrie If the CPC were to project a true government in waiting image, it might not be that way. Instead, they cling to a leader who cannot lead, and have no effective bench depth. When Andrew Scheer is the best you can trot out to amplify Poilievre’s message, you’ve got problems.

A car. A fake cell tower. 13 million network disruptions. And three Chinese nationals who just made Canadian legal history for all the wrong reasons. Toronto Police have wrapped up Project Lighthouse, Canada's first ever documented case of a vehicle-mounted SMS blaster being deployed against the public. The device was hidden inside a moving vehicle, driving across the Greater Toronto Area for months starting in late 2025. Every phone it passed connected to it without the owner knowing, thinking it was a legitimate cell tower. From there, the device blasted out fake text messages impersonating banks and service providers, redirecting victims to phishing sites designed to steal banking credentials, passwords, and personal data. Tens of thousands of devices connected to it. The operation logged over 13 million network disruptions, meaning real cell towers were being knocked offline. During those windows, people trying to call 911 may not have gotten through. On March 31, 2026, police executed search warrants in Markham and Hamilton. Two suspects were arrested and multiple SMS blasters were seized. A third handed himself in on April 21. All three are Chinese nationals: Dafeng Lin, 27, of Hamilton; Junmin Shi, 25, of Markham; and Weitong Hu, 21, of Markham. Together they face 44 charges including fraud, mischief endangering life, unauthorized possession of credit card data, and fraudulently intercepting computer systems. Toronto Police called it a "first-of-its-kind" case in Canada and a "new and emerging threat." The investigation required coordination between the RCMP, York Regional Police, Hamilton Police, telecom providers, and major financial institutions. This was not a phishing email someone could choose to ignore. This was a roving piece of military-grade interception technology, quietly driven through Canadian neighborhoods, hijacking phones and potentially blocking emergency calls. No interaction required from victims. Just proximity. #Canada #Toronto #CyberCrime #SMSBlaster #ProjectLighthouse #Fraud #CyberSecurity #ChineseNationals #RCMP #NationalSecurity

BREAKING: Marilyn Gladu is getting sued by her own constituents. The voters of Sarnia—Lambton just announced a class-action lawsuit against her for betraying them and floor-crossing to the Liberals. Their message is crystal clear: “We funded a Conservative, not a floor-crosser. See you in court.” This is what happens when MPs think they can sell out the people who voted for them and just walk away with a nicer title and a pat on the head from Carney. The betrayal is coming back to bite. Canadians are done with the turncoats. Who’s next? Drop it below 👇 #cdnpoli #LiberalCorruption

Dan, what you are talking about is not unique to Canada. It is common for all Western countries. By the way where are check and balances in the US? But we should not accept lecturing from Trump sycophants like Glenn Beck no matter how much their critique matches reality. He should look into his own backyard. Retweeting various compromised MAGA figures like Beck is undermining valid critique you and other opposition figures are providing here in Canada.
