@sweetangelette It's because they are prey animals. To them being picked up = a predator is going to kill me. Most do very much enjoy being pet if you get on the floor with them. But they can also be fickle like cats and just not want pets for whatever reason.

@learning_yohei It depends on what you want to see. If you want to try the best pizza, bagels, and Knishes go to NY. Public transit is good in NYC but not always safe.
No decent public transit in Californian, but there's nicer weather and better Mexican food. Do not get bagels in CA.
