@realcavsfans Giving out a NTMLE still hard caps a team at the 1st apron. I assume Harden wants multi year 30mm+ AAV on his contract since he declined his 43mm PO. How far are the Cavs under the 1st apron? They will have to offload other players to fit Kuminga and Harden under the 1st apron

Important note on the Kuminga pursuit: S&T and NTMLE are two different deals. S&T (at least 3 years, 1st year must be guaranteed) and NTMLE (no restrictions) allow different deal structures. Kuminga may opt for an out either way after Y1 or Y2 to hit FA sooner to regain $.

@jdowning711 @TraMurr2 There are under the cap teams that can S&T him and give him upwards of 20mm or that have trade exceptions they can sign him into. Believe that’s what he’s betting on.

@TraMurr2 @AgentD24 What market? He can't do it through free agency, no one has money left 🤣 S + T is pretty much his only option

The Phoenix Suns had a deal on the table during Kuminga's restricted free agency last offseason for 88 million over 4 years with a player option. 22 million per.... Now that money is tight around the league a year later, he's supposed to just accept 10 million per year????? Now he cant even ask for Gary Trent money? Instead of being on the Suns, they traded for Miles Bridges to fill the spot that wouldve been Kuminga's just last year if the Warriors had any decency and allowed JK to move on with his life & career. JK would be sitting on 22 million annually & a starting role for the Suns & you think its "just crazy" for him to ask for 20 million when the market said he was worth 22 just last year. You think its "just crazy" to ask for 20 million per when Christian Braun is making 25 per, Dyson Daniels is making 25 per and Keegan Murray is making 29 per. Yea go to hell & enjoy Ziaire Williams & Mattisse Thybulle. Pony up or get lost.

The Lakers were happy to offer 2/$20M with a starting spot and opportunity to play significant minutes. If you are who you think you are, playing well in that role will earn you the next contract. What they’re asking for is just crazy.

@bvb030 @TraMurr2 They have their 1st round every 2 years that they cannot legally trade. But they’re deep…they got some young guys hopefully that will develop. If they work the cap they can potentiall clear a TPMLE next year. But look overall we have no idea what this team is…we’ll find out

@bvb030 @TraMurr2 Can’t rebuild an entire team overnight. I did think they did a fine job rebuilding with Bro’s departure and while they have a giant hole at the starting 4 position I actually think they are far deeper 6 through 10 than they were last year.

@bvb030 @TraMurr2 Not disagreeing with you re LA. They overpaid for Reaves, they had to, DET had max offer ready @ 185 and LA couldn’t lose AR for nothing. W/ Kessler they gave up too many assets, although his contract is fair @ 31mm AAV. Also, Luka is undervalued at 51mm, he’s a super max player

@AgentD24 @TraMurr2 What offer sheet. From Detroit lmao. And look at the position the lakers are in now they have 3 nearly max contracts and will be stuck trying to fill out rosters for years to come with vet mins and no trade assets to make the team better. But fans seem to be happy with that.

@24Dparks But can’t it be a 3 year deal with 2nd and 3rd year being player option? Or PO’s can only be on the 3rd year?

@LakerTom Lakers don’t need another 6’5 shooting guard / small forward. Especially one making 15mm AAV. Lakers need a starting power forward.

LAKERS JOIN CAVS-HAWKS KUMINGA TRADE TO MOVE VANDERBILT & 2ND FOR MAX STRUS! Here's a 4-team trade that deals with the base year compensation rule and essentially dumps Jarred Vanderbilt and sends Max Strus to the Lakers for a pair of second round picks. Strus is a 30-year old 6' 5" shooting guard who averaged 40.2% on almost 7 attempted threes per game last season. He would be essential force in transforming the Lakers into a 3-ball juggernaut. Cavaliers Receive: -Jonathan Kuminga Hawks Receive: -Dennis Schroder -Lakers Second Round Pick Nets Receive: -Jarred Vanderbilt -Lakers Second Round Pick Lakers Recieve: -Max Strus

The Cavaliers are ramping up their pursuit of Jonathan Kuminga via sign-and-trade after missing out on LeBron James. Cleveland is actively shopping Max Strus, who Kuminga would replace on the wing. A potential framework might feature Strus + 2nd-round pick capital for Kuminga.

@gregucla2010 @LakersNation Makes sense. Seems they have a way tougher road ahead of them than the Lakers do. Perhaps that’s why Pelinka is staying firm on his price. Interesting how this will all play out.

@AgentD24 @LakersNation The Cavs won’t be able to sign and trade Strus ($16.6) or Schroder ($14.8) directly to the Hawks. They’re hard capped at the first apron and only have $11.5 in space. So they’ll need to cut a player, which creates more cap room, but it’ll likely be Gueye ($2.4) or Nemhard ($2.1).

@LakersNation At least that’s what I read. Can anyone verify their current cap situation + their available draft picks. What a SNT would look like and how much money they will have remaining for Harden .

@LakersNation Cavs would have to trade both Strus & Schroeder w/out taking players back Otherwise if they only trade 1 of those they will have to fit both Kuminga and Harden within their 1st apron (they will have roughly 37mm left) Harden just declines 40mm PO, will he take a 20mm pay cut?

What a S&T for Kuminga, Hezonja and Harden contract could look like. The issue comes down to if the Cavs send out Strus or Schroder for Kuminga, how to divide ~$37M-$40M in Y1 for Harden and Kuminga, and make them both happy.

@ATLSportsZone Cavs need to get under the 2nd apron first Before they can do any sign n trade they have to shed some salaries (Max Strus & Shrouder) since S&T will hard cap you under the 1st apron. Also, what happens with Harden? He declined a 43mm PO to sign a longer deal….

🚨 The Cavaliers may have just opened the door for a Hawks blockbuster. After reportedly missing out on LeBron James, Cleveland could pivot toward Jonathan Kuminga. If the Cavs make Jarrett Allen available, should the Hawks go all-in and bring Allen to the A? 👀🦅

@VinoUncorked It doesn’t make sense. S&T will be the only way they can acquire him. They will be hard capped at the 1st apron. Aren’t they already near the 1st apron as is and that’s without bringing back James Harden? Harden turned down his 43mm PO, I don’t think he will take a huge discount

The Bucks are showing renewed sign-and-trade interest on Jonathan Kuminga. After recently checking in on Peyton Watson, Milwaukee appears to be pivoting towards Kuminga. Milwaukee inquired about Kuminga with the Warriors before he was traded at February’s deadline to the Hawks.

The Pelicans went 26-56 last season and somehow followed it up with an offseason featuring no trades, no free-agent signings, and 14 of the same 15 players returning 😅 (h/t @RTNBA )
